Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Ironically, I've wanted to also report him today, but didn't think there's a strong enough of a case yet with what I had.

The problem is that jokes often fall under popcorning (which is banned), acts as a derail (which is banned) or contributes no substance, just fluff, which lengthens the query and can make mods less likely to respond to problems.
So yes, making random jokes in query is bad.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper Wall^^ I mean, it's a popcorn if you're making a personal comment instead of addressing the OP's question. e: nj
Edited by Amonimus TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupNot to mention in that first link you provided WarJay, he seems to have a really big issue with the Surprisingly Realistic Outcome trope, even shoehorning in some examples as other tropes that don't really fit.
Are you adding to the discussion on this site, or just taking away from someone else's contributions?

So... this is one of the reports I didn't really want to have to make, but after repeated incidents it's just becoming something I feel needs to be done because Robert tends to come off as rather abrasive and snarky, while also reacting to things in a... kind of an excessive way.
I'll start with the things that made me decide to do this, both of which happened on ATT, one of which happened today. First, there was this
derail on an unrelated report, and Robert's dismissive tone when people called him out for using the thread to complain. Then, there's this
little moment where they suggest someone do something that A) breaks the rules and B) doesn't even solve the problem the troper has. In isolation, these things aren't a big deal, but I've seen them be similarly unhelpful elsewhere. (Sadly, finding other queries where this sort of things happens is a tall order because you can't just search for queries someone else had posted in, so you might just have to take my word for it that I've seen similar behavior from them on other ATT threads in the past.)
On the TLP, they're mostly pretty OK, except for two things:
And on the forums, while they do help out a lot in IP and at the SRO cleanup thread, I do have concerns about rudeness and unhelpfulness here as well. For example, they have the recurring tendency to post about
pages with
ZCE
so that someone else can fix them, even though the pages are always really short. At other times, they continue to sprinkle in unhelpful
or unnecessarily
sarcastic
comments (again, often criticizing real issues but in an unproductive or vague way).
And it's like, I don't think Robert is some awful troper who only ever leaves rude remarks. That's obviously not the case. However, they do have an issue with snark and making unproductive comments, and I'm not
the first
to report on this.
