The problem is that jokes often fall under popcorning (which is banned), acts as a derail (which is banned) or contributes no substance, just fluff, which lengthens the query and can make mods less likely to respond to problems.

So yes, making random jokes in query is bad.

Snark is generally overlooked, unless used in the wrong way.

However, the fact that Robert doesn't seem see the problem with how others feels about what he wrote is quite problematic.

Well, that and a few popcorning instances Anonimus mentioned.

Not to mention in that first link you provided WarJay, he seems to have a really big issue with the Surprisingly Realistic Outcome trope, even shoehorning in some examples as other tropes that don't really fit.

Are you adding to the discussion on this site, or just taking away from someone else's contributions?
