Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
1. Weblinks Are Not Examples. It should recap the article instead of linking to it.
2. YMMV need far more than "at least one fan".
3. Since Tropers.Charles Phipps is likely Creator.CT Phipps and CTPhipps from that Blogspot, this may be hitting the 4th point of Auto-Erotic Troping.
4. If the troper is sharing own blog in the forums, depending on where these posts were, may run afoul of the forum rules
about advertising.
While CharlesPhipps has been reported a lot at Ask The Tropers, the YMMV.Dead Rising 2 example is from 2012, so I'll simply just remove it.
Edited by Amonimus TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupDidn't anticipate that last one coming up; I'm not familiar with those particular rules. Based on the first two I'm gonna go ahead and cut the example.
As for number 3, AFAIK he's never exactly tried to hide that. I get the feeling this is just an honest misunderstanding on all fronts (and like I said this particular issue is from 11 years ago). Still, might be worth bringing him in.
EDIT: Ninja'd. Also I wouldn't characterize him as a problem troper or as having come up in ATT too much; 7 queries mentioning him in as many years doesn't seem like a huge deal. One of them was about self-promotion
but this incident pre-dates it by several years.
We established that, yeah. As for the forum stuff I can't recall any specific instances off the top of my head but I've seen him share links to his reviews of various works in their dedicated threads as part of discussion, which from a skim of the rules doesn't seem like a violation.
Edited by Dirtyblue929Regarding the YMMV, it was old and was resolved by removing it. If CharlesPhipps is breaking any rules after their suspension in 2022, it's best to compile which and make a new report specifically about that.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI know Charles Phipps has been suspended before FWIW.
Works That Require Cleanup Of Complaining | Troper Wall

This is a very old incident that I only noticed by chance — while browsing YMMV.Dead Rising 2 (I've been replaying the series recently) I noticed a zero-context What Do You Mean, It's Not Political? entry that just reads "At least one fan's essay says it's very much so. Here." with the last word linking to a blog that I recognized as Tropers.Charles Phipps' from his occasional sharing of it on the forums. Out of curiosity I checked the edit history and sure enough, Charles added that entry himself in 2012. Is that kosher?
