Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
If we're going this route, I'd rather have a thread about Pasta/Collaborative/Decentralized works in general. I've already brought this up in Goncharov thread, but I believe each installment should be treated as a separate work and each may worth a page, including the original if viablenote , while I don't think The Slender Man Mythos is a proper use of Franchise/ namespace.
Edited by Amonimus TroperWall / WikiMagic Cleanup^ I'd like to expand it for other Derivative Works, that included, but this project
needs to get its queue processed first before discussing something else.
There already is a Creepypasta cleanup
, FWIW.
Yeah, I've been wanting to make a thread for this but I don't really know where to start. I feel like a lot of the works are lumped under the "Mythos" page because they have nowhere else to go, but there is and has never been one single unified "Slender Man Mythos".
I agree that it might be better as a Derivative Works/ page, but also that the project thread has currently stalled.
For now we can probably just make a short term cleanup and go from there.
Edited by WarJay77 Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallThis page is bizarre, since while WarJay is right in that there is no single unified mythos, there are quite a few webseries related to Slender Man that frequently cross over with one another, whether it be through intertwining lore or official crossover videos. Is that interconnectivity worth highlighting in some regard?
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."Those videos could be correctly called a universe, yeah. EMH, Tribe Twelve, Dark Harvest, ML Anderson, Stan Frederickson, ect, all of those take place in a shared universe by design. I wouldn't call them a "Mythos" though, a lot of them focus on specific monsters and villains that aren't Slender Man; he's sort of just the overarching threat that connects everyone.
It's worth highlighting but I'm not sure how to do it because these are all still individual works.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallI'm also not sure if they count as a shared universe, because with little knowledge on the topic, I believe they run on different interpretation of the Man. MarbleHornets, TribeTwelve and EverymanHYBRID are ARG channels with own lore and there's no common regulation on the portrayals.
Edited by Amonimus TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI think the page itself needs cleaning up but I do think that there is a Mythos worth troping here. He’s essentially the main character of his own creepypasta that constantly shows up in related works and there is a general lore there - the camera distortions, memory problems, the concept of “proxies”, the pages, etc. there is consistent lore worth troping in one page, but I do think there needs to be a cleanup of what exactly is on it so that it’s not just “every work the character has appeared in”
Marble Hornets doesn't count anyway. They don't use Slender Man, they use the Operator, who was based on the OG Slender Man pics and later inspired the Slender Man in EMH and Tribe Twelve... But MH takes place in a different universe from the other series with a technically not-Slender-Man character. EMH and Tribe Twelve, while they do have some differing lore, are absolutely a shared universe; the series have crossed over on numerous occasions and characters introduced in one series play a role in the other.
I think this ought to move to a forum thread at this point since we're getting into the nitty-gritty of what "counts" as a Mythos.
Edited by WarJay77 Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallYes, either moving to Creepypasta cleanup or making a new Slenderman specific Short Term is overdue.
TroperWall / WikiMagic Cleanup

During the discussion for misuse and debatable use
of Slender Man Stand In, there was an idea from Warjay about the cleanup for Franchise. The Slender Man Mythos. I would like to bring this up due to the "nature" of the page in question, as not only is the page simply collecting media related to the Slender Man (regardless of their canon story) but the page is simply stating how broad and unique the universe is despite being otherwise.
Suggestions would be welcome if a possible cleanup is worth it (and if the Slenderman himself is worth keeping in the wiki).
