It's not rude or disparaging towards anyone, it mostly just reads as either trolling or an inside joke. Personally I don't see any rule breaks.

I'm pretty sure trolling edit reasons aren't allowed either, though? They don't have to be rude to be concerning.

...No? In what way is it Natter?

It's just a few concerning edit reasons, but they are also just edit reasons.

I'm talking about the linked edits here and here, which contain Bold Inflation and exclamations we normally remove.

Oh, well yeah those are bad but they don't count as natter (which is conversation on the main page / examples arguing against themselves).

These edits and edit reasons seem to have a religious bent, what with them repeatedly saying "It's almost as if God himself made sure this story was made" and calling His 9 Lives blasphemous for making a joke about tricking God (never mind that it's a movie about a talking orange cat). There might even be an agenda here, no other page I've read has had anyone gushing about "God making sure that this story was made".

Yeah, UFO, that coupled with OP's links is what made me curious enough to ask the source himself. Sure enough, he does believe that Jim Davies was possedsed by God to writte this comic.

Now, I don't believe he has an agenda (I haven't seen him editing maliciously, yet), but his Edit Reasons are certainly curious, not gonna lie.

Religious ranting aside, edit reasons are not the place to comment on or editorialize about the work per se. Wouldn’t a review be a better place for this kind of comments?

I just got a response back from the PM I sent them and...well, if this whole thing is just a troll, they're doing a good job at keeping it up.

So, it shouldn't be a surprise that none of this stuff is particularly new, see for instance their edits on this page. It's mostly just gushing about Arnold, but of course it doesn't go into edit reasons and the first one (from their first edit on the page) gushes about how the only person more saintly than Arnold is Jesus. They also added more unnecessary capslock and the like.

For what it's worth, they've been suspended twice before (both earlier this year, in fact). Also, this editing style of theirs even extends to people IRL, such as this edit reason.

Suspended for indentation problems on the Tear Jerker page (using a lone second-level bullet point) at least, because they've already received notifiers and bad indentation is unambiguously against the rules. We'll look into the other stuff later.

Of course it's the moderators' decision which of the "other stuff" is important or not, but if I may just offer an ordinary site user's opinion, it feels rather disruptive when the edit reasons are used to gush or just comment on the work. I can live with the strange religious comments; it's the misuse of edit reasons that I find distracting.

I'm not trying to mini-mod or influence the moderators here, of course, just noting an opinion.

I think there's been a misunderstanding because I was tired when I issued the suspension. I was just too tired to analyze whether those edits crossed any lines (such as violating the ROCEJ); I wasn't brushing them off.

Either way, there's not really any reason for more discussion since a suspension was already issued, so locking.
