Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
The text of the section pages seems to simply be a trope-potholed copy of the text of original source list, so in violation of the Plagiarism policy? (I know that we have a very specific exception for the Evil Overlord List, but I don't think that there is an exception for this one...)
Edited by underCoverSailsman^ I don't know either. What I know, however, is that the index Books on Trope include several of them with similar format. Like The RPG Cliches Game, The Fantasy Novelists Exam, and The Grand List of Console Role Playing Game Clichés.
There're also other pages on that index that use their own format like 45 Master Characters and The Complete Writer's Guide to Heroes & Heroines.
None of them have tropes list. I think that's the biggest problem since they're work pages, not Useful Notes or Just for Fun.
Edited by KuruniSorry to bump this
But I personally don't think this is tropeworthy, at least not as a works page, neither are any of the things listed above ^
I know we have Evil Overlord List, but that's
1. In Main, not a work page 2. A special Grandfathered in exception due to its status as a major cornerstone of the site.
"Grandmaster Combat, son!"Agree. Consider there're Books on Trope pages with similar subject yet using proper tropes list like Fantasy Encyclopedia, Fenimore Coopers Literary Offences, and The Four Loves, there's no real reason why those tropeless pages should exist as work pages (I'm fine with them being JFF though).
But I think we need mod's input here.
Edited by KuruniAs a major contributor to the blue linking of The Grand List of Console Role Playing Game Clichés years ago, I vote to keep the page, but not in its current format. It'll take a while to convert it to a tropable list, though. Should we open up a Sandbox for it?
"If struck hard enough, even the plumpest pigs can fly."Websites are Works, so they have to follow the Work rules and not be tropeless stubs. Moreover, if they copy lists from their origins, we legally can't keep them.
If someone can reformat the lists into respective tropes with text, it would solve the issues.
Edited by Amonimus TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupIn that case, I'll try to salvage the Console RPG Clichés list as best I can.
Sandbox. The Grand List Of Console Role Playing Game Cliches
"If struck hard enough, even the plumpest pigs can fly."Alright, I sent all problematic pages (and their subpages) in this query to the Cut List (except The Grand List of Console Role Playing Game Clichés since Willy Four Eyes is working on it).
I will look through Books on Trope after a cutmaster process this round of cut request (unless they deny it).

I recently found The Grand List of Overused Science Fiction Clichés while wick cleaning Good People Have Good Sex... and I'm not sure this is actually tropeworthy.
The website itself has no tropes at all, and the subpages are just lists of common sci-fi cliches.
I wasn't sure the best spot to put this, so I took it here to ATT.
