Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
I don't really understand the purpose of that page ... the examples aren't really discussing how tropes have evolved over time, just how some things were different in the past than they are now. It's the kind of formless gloop that encourages people to argue over The Myth of the Clean Wehrmacht.
Is this a trope? A form of playing with a trope? If so, examples should be how specific tropes have evolved over time, not ... whatever that page is.
I didn't choose the troping life, the troping life chose meTo be honest, I have no idea what that page really is, I found it through the recent edits function and didn't really know about it until I spotted that edit reason.
It's not wicked much of anywhere either.

EDIT: Double posted somehow
Edited by Tonwen "Grandmaster Combat, son!"It's a meta concept just like Dead Unicorn Trope, Undead Horse Trope, and Cyclical Trope.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper Wall^well, it's supposed to be a meta concept, but seeing as the examples are kind of all over the place, seems like it's being misused / has suffered some Trope Decay.
Yeah, Dead Unicorn Trope and Undead Horse Trope have examples that actually apply and are illustrative of the concept. Evolving Trope has that mess of a list, perhaps it needs a sectionectomy.
I didn't choose the troping life, the troping life chose meI mean I'm not disputing that it's got problems, lol. But since people were confused at what the page was for, well...
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallSounds like a topic for trope talk. I'd start a thread for Evolving Trope, but I'm not sure how to word it
My troper wall"this isn't exactly an example of that" kinda seems to be a trend in their edits in general.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.To get back to the OP, I agree that there's a very large jump from saying that not all German soldiers were nazis to trying to promote the "Clean Wehrmacht" myth, not to speak of Holocaust denial. The Wehrmacht was very far from clean, but many of their soldiers (and not just low-ranking ones) were non-nazis, or even vehement anti-nazis.

I know natural-strap is already being discussed in another ATT, but I felt this one was worth talking about separately.
they removed
this note from Evolving Trope under portrayal of Germans in media.
"Members of the "Wehrmacht", the actual German military in that time period, need not even be Nazis in a political sense. Saying a German soldier is a Nazi is like saying an American soldier is a Republican or Democrat based purely on the party in power at the time."
with the reason
"the Clean Wehrmacht Myth is just a gussied-up form of soft Holocaust denial and has no place in a wiki that isn't explicitly about German self-justification""
Except... this isn't exactly an example of that. Myth of the Clean Wehrmacht means asserting that the Whermacht did nothing wrong, its commanders in particular. This entry just states that there may have been individual low ranking soldiers who may not have been Nazis in a political sense, which feels like a fair thing to say to me.
In addition, it's about portrayal in media, and there is definitely the presence of the "honorable non-nazi Wehrmacht solider" in media, whether or not it's historically correct.
I am holding on changing it without more feedback.
