The edit history shows you did change the spelling when you did the move. Are you using some sort of autocorrect plugin?

The official rule is that you can use whichever you prefer of American and standard spellings; heck, you can use both in the same sentence if you like. What you can't do is change one to the other.

I believe that the rule here is "First Come First Served". In short, that means that, unless the work has a particular connection to a given spelling, whichever spelling is used first in the article is the spelling that is to be followed.

But see American and Commonwealth Spellings for the specifics.

Oh shoot, I didn't realize that. It's been so long that I must have forgotten and I honestly didn't notice until it was pointed out. I'm sorry, I'll try to be more careful. As for why I changed it in the first place, I noticed that the other spelling of defense was in the same paragraph and I never heard of defence until now so I must have thought it was a legit typo.
