Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Honestly those game show examples tread perilously close to troping real people.
I'd not shed a tear if the game show pages disappeared.
I didn't choose the troping life, the troping life chose meI think cut them entirely, these tropes are NRLEP I think and game shows can't really have examples.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI would also support cutting the examples.
He/His/Him. No matter who you are, always Be Yourself.Isn't What An Idiot Darth now? I'm more concerned with the subpage being visible on the main wiki via the upper tab.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Yep, it is.
He/His/Him. No matter who you are, always Be Yourself.Eh, it's not super ideal to have the subpage tab for it, but it's also not something that can be helped.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessTo clear things up, OP is referring to a subpage (well a subpage of a subpage) of the Darth page itself. What An Idiot isn't listed as a trope on a works page (which would be a no-no).
I didn't choose the troping life, the troping life chose meUpdate: It seems RL cleanup is in favor of cutting, saying it only didn't happen sooner as nobody seemed to act on it. Do we need more consensus from them?
Or is this ATT and the cleanup enough approval to cut? It seems between the two we have consensus to cut I'll submit them to cut list tonight unless I hear any objections.
Edited by Ferot_DreadnaughtKeeping the subpage tabs from appearing would require additional coding for the admins, similarly to why Dethroning Moment of Suck tabs don't appear, so there's not really anything we can do for now.
Edited by GastonRabbit Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.I think we need some more discussion on treating Game Shows as Real Life. Even if not scripted, the people there are making a performance.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman^Understood. For now should we just cut the examples that don't use the You'd Expect/Instead format that WAI TRS agreed was now mandatory?
Those that don't follow the format should be cut (or reformatted if the example wording would allow it) by default.
TroperWall / WikiMagic Cleanup^^^ I disagree with that, at least for shows like Jeopardy where it's literally just people answering questions, even if they're faking their personality IDK why any of them would pretend to get an answer wrong and actively lose money.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessShould there be a trope talk thread to hash this out?
Personally I think there is a huge difference between game show contestants actions and reality show drama. One is overtly manipulated and shaped into a narrative, while the other simply shines a camera on people.
I didn't choose the troping life, the troping life chose meYes, please take this to Trope Talk. I'm going to lock this so the conversation can continue there.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.A trope talk thread has been made here
Macron's notes
WhatAnIdiot.Family Feud: All but 3 of the examples violate the requirement of using the You'd Expect/Instead format. This also applies to many examples under WhatAnIdiot.Game Shows.
WAI cleanup said any examples that don't follow You'd Expect/Instead should be cut, but this would be a big enough number of cuts that I'm asking here first. Also as WAI is NoRealLife.Too Controversial are such examples even allowed? (We'd allowed Reality TV to have otherwise No Real Life for others but asking here.)
I intend to remove examples lacking the You'd Expect/Instead format. Any objections? Or should such pages be cut outright? WAI cleanup seems to lean to cutting the pages but has insufficient consensus and has been inactive for weeks.
Update: asked Real Life cleanup about this.
