Link to page this is on. Apparently, this is a Role-Ending Misdemeanor example.

I only know about the case from what I hear through the grapevines, but this feels like way too much information. All we need to know is what Johnny Depp was accused of and how that affected his role in Fantastic Beasts. Listing specific events or discussing the fairness of the case are not necessary to do so and may run afoul of the Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment.

Apologies for not listing the page. I rewrote the example as you requested.

  • Johnny Depp was fired from the Fantastic Beasts series in the middle of production of the then-upcoming third film when he lost a libel case against a tabloid in the UK in November 2020. The tabloid had run a headline calling him a "wife beater" in the context of talking about him remaining in the series despite allegations of domestic violence against him by ex-wife, Amber Heard. The judge in the lawsuit ruled in favor of the tabloid, saying the tabloid's (and, by extension, Heard's) allegations were "substantially true", with twelve of fourteen instances used by the defense meeting the civil standard for domestic violence. Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen was very quickly cast to take over the role.

^Good job. That and, the original was a Wall of Text, especially with the notes "opened". (Granted, I can understand making those sometimes, with long Humiliation Congas being the first that comes to mind).

(I hope this doesn't count as "popcorning" lol.)

The replacement actor can probably still be mentioned as that's irrelevant to the legal stuff but relevant to Depp's lost role.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.

Someone edited the entry according to my rewrite with an added acknowledgement of the Virginia Trial.

I don't think that's relevant to the example unless he wins the role back. REM is not a 'running commentary' type of trope (tbh nothing should be but especially not this) unless it actually affects the role-ending.

I do agree with Mightymewtron that it should be fine to list that Mikkelsen took over the role.

I serve at the pleasure of President Pritchart.

Trim it, especially the notes which are not helpful.
