I remember in science class in middle school we sometimes were shown VHS episodes of some show that wasn't Bill Nye but somewhat similar. The episodes always involved a group of preteens / teens who would run into some kind of problem in their daily life so they'd visit this guy at his house / workshop who knew a lot about science and they'd run experiments that would end up solving the problem. I have no idea what the guy's name was or what the show was, I just know it existed and was shown in school.
