Is it really bringing him in line with the original game? It's been a long time for me but Master Chief had a personality, he wasn't an empty husk and I could swear I've heard him say some dialogue in the games. So what they did is still a change from the original.

Understood, but that sounds different than what the entry claims the issue is.

I'd cut the "Part of this is due to the fact that many had no problems with John having a personality on the first place, instead disliking the Adaptational Personality Change he went in the series" part as that's apparently not the change from the games they're upset about, but that would leave to little context for a valid entry. What to do?

It seems like a shoehorn just to fit in some complaining, and not a valid entry at all.

Also, it's still too early to tell what exactly will happen with John in season 2, so it seems even more like kneejerk complaining. For all we know, John's personality might be the same as in season 1 after a few episodes of him being "locked in" his own mind, or he might undergo some permanent changes, so at this point it's complaining about a cliffhanger by presupposing what the resolution is. The whole "eviscerated by fans" thing is also just needless bashing.

^ Good point. It's presumptuous to even say that it's an attempt at making him closer to the games in that context.

Also, the entire "bringing in line with the games" point seems rather odd when virtually the only thing I know about this show apart from it attracting repeated drama on here is that it's an Alternate Continuity to the games in the first place.

^ How is that relevant?

Fans shouldn't be expected to not compare iterations of a franchise just because they're declared to be alternate universes. There's no reason why that would make a complaint that a change was for the worse any less legitimate.

^The problem is the entry as written is not about how the change as to why he's a Silent Protagonist was disliked as it's not stating/comparing why he's such in the games.

And it sounds too soon to save the change will stick. So cut?

Cut. Assuming the changes to John are permanent, which i highly doubt, it might fit as something but not this trope really.

I agree to cutting this.

Feel like I should note here that after this was removed the user who added it, Flameal15k, made a null edit purely to reply to the deletion's edit reason in his own edit reason. I'm not sure this is strictly against any rules and it wasn't rude in its wording but it still feels... wrong? IDK, just thought it might bear mentioning.

You could always just send him a PM about rudeness if you think it's an issue, just in case it becomes a habit in his editing reasons or something.
