Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

I don't think it's really "encouraged" so much as people just don't really care as long as the videos are good and aren't there just to inflate the work's numbers.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallIf there's no misuse, more examples sound like a good thing, as long as we moderate Fan Myopia.
Edited by Amonimus TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupPeople watch shows and just clip videos of any tropes they can identify. Nothing wrong with making a lot of videos for one show as long you make sure you aren't shoehorning things in.
Macron's notesSince it came up, where and how do we report videos that are misuse? I know Fight Scene Failure has at least one video example that is decidedly not an example of the trope in question - it's just a less-than-stellar flash animation of someone throwing a punch and their opponent dodging it, rather than a punch that visibly didn't connect but is treated like it connected.
It also somehow has six 5-star votes in spite of this which I find a little suspicious tbh.

I often browse the new video examples page, and often the recurring works I see just seem like Entry Pimping uploaders' favorite works rather than actually trying to illustrate a trope. And when I found out about JustForFun.Video Overdosed, I thought to myself, "...that explains an awful lot."
I won't pretend I'm innocent of this myself, after all we generally can only give examples of what we know and are interested in, right? But sometimes it just feels like people are trying to race to see whose fandom can get the most videos uploaded.
