There doesn't appear to be any editing conflict, so you can pare it down or even cut it as misuse, pointing to the thread to discuss, for anybody who disagrees.

Okay, do you mean this thread or the MLP cleanup thread?

The Wall of Text thread (it's evidence of a discussion), and also pointing to the MLP cleanup / MLP media thread wouldn't hurt.

Asked MLP Cleanup about this. Unless I hear otherwise I'll condense the DILP into a single point that all canon evidence is they'd continue such unrepentant evildoing even if shown leniency/fair chance to repent.

I agree it should be condensed, but focus more on fans downplaying their actual crimes rather than what they hypothetically might have done. The show had a lot of villains like Discord or Starlight who showed no redeeming traits at first but did get reformed, and before that happened, it was also true of them that all canon evidence seemed to be that they weren't redeemable.

How's this?

  • Draco in Leather Pants: Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow have many fans and fanwork bemoan how unfair their punishment was. This is despite their crimes eachnote  being on par or surpassing what the Storm King and Sombra were karmically and uncontroversially killed for, as well as their rejecting the friendship developing between them that supposedly made them redeemable out of spite to the concept.

On the subject, also from YMMV.My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic S 9 E 25 The Ending Of The End Part 2:

  • Ron the Death Eater: Discord has often been considered just as bad if not worse than the Trio, for his actions as Grogar and subsequently turning the trio into stone. Discord did what he did for the sake of trying to help his friends, have the confidence to rule Equestria. While the trio were actually trying to conquer Equestria for their selfish ends. Discord had the mindset that ultimately everything would turn out fine. He showed remorse for his actions unlike the Trio and took action to try to make up for it, putting himself in harms way in the process. He didn’t suggest turning them to stone until after it was already suggested to punish them and Chrysalis stated that they would never change. Some even think he actually became a villain again and was just making up that he was well intentioned so that he wouldn’t be punished despite the fact that, if this was the case he wouldn’t have given back Princess Celestia and Luna their magic and bowed to Twilight after getting his magic back.

A different version of this was previously cut citing "Misuse. Ron The Death Eater is supposed to be for when people demonize a character by exaggerating or cherry-picking supposedly-questionable actions, sometimes just making stuff up if the character didn't do anything "bad" to begin with. It isn't supposed to be used to talk about people disliking a character for doing supposedly questionable actions."

I agree with these reasons Discord's wrongdoing is unfairly exaggerated/villified, but RTDE is about said exaggerations/vilifications frequently affecting Fanon of them or making it's way into fanworks about them, which is not the case as fans have refused to let this change that (Never Live It Down was deemed not to apply here for the same reason). Cut? Anything this exaggeration could be moved to? (Jerks Are Worse Than Villains might fit but I'm not sure if jerkassery fits what's contentious about him here.)

Also asking MLP cleanup on the matter.

I'll address the DILP issue on the MLP thread. The RTDE entry should be cut.
