Thanks! That's definitely it.
In this commercial from maybe 20 years ago, a boy is about to go off to college. Just as he is leaving, his father gives him a credit card, but with a caveat to use it wisely (or perhaps only in emergencies). In the next scene, the kid is with his buddies at a pizza place; when they realize they have no cash with them, the boy remembers his credit card and gleefully treats everyone. Cue a montage of the same kid shopping here there and everywhere, charging everything as he goes. Might have included a shot of the card zipping through a reader, an LED "Approved" flashing, and/or some behind-the-scenes mainframe computers churning up. ISTR one of the more frivolous items he bought was a scuba suit. I think there was a pop music soundtrack, though I forget the song. The music came to an abrupt stop, though, with the sound of knocking at a dorm room door. Upon opening, it's the kid's father, with an annoyed look on his face. He then quietly but swiftly displays some fanned out credit card bills. A voiceover followed with a message about teaching your kids financial literacy.
