We have an index at Music Tropes that lists the various types of music. It includes music used in movies and television.

I think "covers" are supposed to be different arrangements of the original song, aren't they? The perception of *how* different a song sounds would be an Audience Reaction trope.

I guess I mean like so different it seems like another genre (or is so different you probably couldn't tell it was a cover if it didn't have lyrics.)

When you say "seems like another genre", what if it is another genre entirely? That would seem to be In the Style of which has its own InTheStyleOf.Music page about cross-genre covers.
