Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.

I'm pretty sure that unless specified otherwise, the example order for multiple examples from the same show/medium is "order somebody got around to adding them in".
I serve at the pleasure of President Pritchart.First bullets are sorted alphabetically (list of works in production lists are sorted by year), second bullets are sorted by order of appearance in work.
TroperWall / WikiMagic Cleanup@Rose I'm sorry, that thing about production order or broadcast order is a distraction from my question. Please let's ignore it. In the example, I would expect
- The Good Wife
- Star Trek
- Wonder Woman
but I would understand if it was
- Star Trek
- The Good Wife
- Wonder Woman
and I would probably move The Good Wife back. But if it was
- Wonder Woman
- The Good Wife
- Star Trek
I'd have no idea why.
@Amonimus: Then Logging onto the Fourth Wall is in serious need of alphabetization. Please don't blame anyone who edited it before I did.
Edited by JohnRorePeople usually add examples as they find them or think of them, and unless the installments are clearly spelled out or memorable (each entry covers exactly one episode, each entry includes season and episode number or year of release or book number, etc.), they might not get the order right, if they even want to go through the bother. Alphabetizing everything is a fairly recent project. Many older pages aren't.

I feel some trepidation to even ask this, I don't want to get anyone in trouble, or get myself volunteered for a herculean task, but... aren't examples supposed to always be sorted by work title on a Main/ page, and within series by episode sequence?
For example, let's say Star Trek has three examples of one trope. Then the Star Trek examples go after the Good Wife examples and before the Wonder Woman examples. The three Star Trek examples would probably be sorted either by original broadcast order or production order.
On one trope, the problem may have been caused by someone forgetting to omit "The" for the purposes of alphabetization. Then other people who added examples got confused but kept adding at the wrong end.
But on another trope, I can't discern any rhyme or reason to the order things are in. I had one hypothesis but quickly saw it to be incorrect.
