The "Imagine, if you can ..." bit was added in February by dudeu. I sent a plagiarism notifier.

So, looking into dudeu, in this recap for Empire Strikes Back they basically plagiarized the opening crawl (no citation).

Yeah, that Death Battle thing is definitely plagiarism, of the kind that software should flag correctly. Without a suspicion of plagiarism, would have checked? That to me suggests he meant to deceive, and would have gotten away with it if no one checked.

The Star Wars thing, not so much, in my opinion. It doesn't seem to me that he had the intent to deceive on that one, just forgot to place some quotation marks...

Good news, Dudeu changed the text so they aren't identical anymore.

Bad news, some part are still similar but with some words altered (their edit reason "Now, is this plagiarism?" doesn't help). For example, this is from the first paragraph from DEATH BATTLE! S08E12 - DIO VS Alucard.

Dio Brando, the eternal nemesis of the Joestar family. Alucard, the Hellsing organization's undying enforcer.

And here's transcript from Death Battle Wiki.

Wiz: Dio Brando, everlasting adversary of the Joestar bloodline.

Boomstick: Alucard, undying enforcer of the Hellsing Organization.

This might be too much of nitpicking though. However, it's worth to note that the copy/paste descriptuin isn't confined to just one Recap. See the intro part from is from DEATH BATTLE! S08E13 - Akuma VS Shao Kahn.

Akuma, Street Fighter's supreme master of the fist. Shao Khan, konqueror of Mortal Kombat. This episode is devoted to finding out which Final Boss reigns supreme.

And here's transcript from Death Battle Wiki.

Wiz: Akuma, Street Fighter's supreme master of the fist.

Boomstick: Shao Kahn, Konqueror of Mortal Kombat.

Wiz: Today, we'll find out which final boss reigns supreme.

Picking one random Recap, here's from DEATH BATTLE! S07E06 - Goro VS Machamp.

Bruce Lee once said "I don't believe in different ways of fighting; we all have two arms and two legs, so that is why I believe there should be only one way of fighting." Clearly, he never met certain four-armed fighters with four forearms.

Goro, the half-dragon prince of Mortal Kombat. And Machamp, the Fighting-type Pokémon from the Kanto region.

Now compare it to transcript from Death Battle Wiki.

Wiz: Bruce Lee once said, "I don't believe in different ways of fighting. We all have two arms and two legs, so that is why I believe there should be only ONE way of fighting."

Boomstick: Clearly, he never met these four-armed fighters with four forearms.

Wiz: Goro, the half-dragon prince of Mortal Kombat.

Boomstick: And Machamp, the Fighting-type Pokémon from the Kanto region. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.

There's re more. I don't know how many of Death Battle Recap pages has this problem, but so far every random page I picked use copy/paste intro.

Yes, it’s still plagiarism.

Plagiarism, but by different editors. Please send notifiers.

Just to be clear, the Death Battle Wiki mixes actual quotes from the show with a dialogue from characters that are not on the show?

No, they're linking that wiki to cite the episode. Easier to link to a page with a text transcript than to link to a video without captions to compare text versus text. Our recap pages are being compared to the original work, the transcript is linked to make it easier to make the comparison.

I think I found a part of the problem. Recap.Death Battle state that...

The opening of a Death Battle recap begins by quoting the episode's opening. Wizard and Boomstick explain the common ties the combatants of the episode share in a few sentences. Preferably, references to the hosts should not be here, or the subject made more ambiguous.

Basically, it tell tropers to quote but without make it clear that it's quote. I sent PM to invite the troper who added this part.

If the problem here is that it's not made clear that the episode is being quoted... seems like the solution here is to adjust the intro of each recap page into quote format.

Although Zeh Monsieur replied, they've done nothing to fix it. So I removed the problematic part from Recap.Death Battle.

So, what method do we want to use to correct the pages? Do we eliminate the first paragraph (or the first couple paragraphs prior to Season Eight) of each Recap page entirely, or do we revise them to be properly-formatted quotes with speakers identified?

Either way would solve the plagiarism issue.

Quote format it is, then. Most of the recap pages' second paragraphs make minimal sense if just repositioned into the page's opener.
