I wonder what they mean by "last time I checked", because that isn't a rule for Fanon Discontinuity and never has been to my knowledge.

Fanon Discontinuity is when significant portions of a viewerbase refuse to acknowledge the canonicity of something officially considered canon, for any reason. The editor has it mixed up with Series Continuity Error.
