Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
I'm not gonna comment on the contents of the page itself but yeah, it needs to get moved to the correct namespace and the YMMV entry can go
"Grandmaster Combat, son!"Wow that The Woobie entry is just way TMI. Also, troper pages aren't supposed to have subpages of any kind, if I recall correctly.
ETA: and then I read the main troper page and wow ... just wow.
Edited by laserviking42 I didn't choose the troping life, the troping life chose meI'm not as concerned with their Troper page, if only because sometimes people just add things on them to be ironic or tongue-in-cheek, but admittedly it's concerning when taking The Woobie entry into account.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallNormally I try to avoid judging other tropers, but after skimming through his main page, I agree with everyone else. This guy seems like a total wacko. Also, using The Woobie to try to garner sympathy from others is not only gross, but is a good way to get everyone to instantly dislike you.
Edited by MatthewWayne "I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."Speaking of notifiers, I've apparently always had concerns about them considered I've searched their name on ATT more than once, but I cannot for the life of me remember why. I'm sure I sent them a random notifier in the past that I've long-since deleted (as I wipe by inbox each year), but... yeah, just throwin' that out there.
At this point their potential wonk over the Spider-Man ending seems a little less relevant. I don't think we should start psycho-analyzing or diagnosing them, because again it might just be a character, which is why I focused mostly on the namespace and Woobie entry.
Edited by WarJay77 Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallOkay I'm not going to criticize the troper page for possibly over sharing because War is right, it could be a character.
But what I will say is that there are somethings that I'm uncomfortable seeing on a troper page even if it is a character.
Under All Crimes Are Equal he talks about his conflicting feelings about how being LGBT is a punishable sin and Black Gal on White Guy Drama on why he avoids dating black women. I don't know if I'm being too sensitive here, but these are a bit concerning to see on a page.
Edited by AppleChild CLUNK! (he died.)^ Eugh, yeah, things like that have been ban-worthy before. People can do a lot on their tropers pages, but we still draw the line at bigotry.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallHe doesn't seem to endorse those things, though (at least on the former entry, which is more mixed than anything, not so sure about the latter which does sound mildly racist). And to be clear, I have seen worse attempts to gain sympathy on the Internet than that YMMV page, but still agree with the cut.
Edited by Piterpicher Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods Of Incremental)I think tropers can do almost anything with their personal pages. I just the guy should be reminded that he's not actually a fictional character and sharing your entire biography online is Too Much Information at best (and not what the website is for) and straight-up a security problem.
Edited by Amonimus TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupFor what it's worth, the YMMV page is gone now.
Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods Of Incremental)There is, in the locked pages thread.
Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods Of Incremental)Is it ok that I'm very curious as to what his The Woobie entry actually said?
"Unite GUN/BAZOOKA/LAUNCHER/TANK!"I understand that evil thoughts are part of human nature (or curiosity here), but it's better to keep it deleted. It wasn't anything special anyway.
Edited by Piterpicher Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods Of Incremental)Seems he's a conspiracy theorist too, if the Big Brother Is Watching is to be judged.
"Unite GUN/BAZOOKA/LAUNCHER/TANK!"And this is why I do not put tropes for myself on my troper page. I don't want to come off as weird or narcissistic.
Anyway this is turning into a popcorn gallery so I am requesting a lock.
Works That Require Cleanup Of Complaining | Troper WallI don't mean to continue the pileon, but he seems to be revealing a legitimately dangerous amount of personal information, as in self-doxxing levels of identifying info. Are there any safety measures against that?
I redesigned Trope-tan! ➯ my pronouns are ze/hirDidn't give real name (you can find what's probably it by googling the username on Twitter, but that's on him there), didn't give home address, didn't give security details or anything. I'd say you're exaggerating.
Edited by Piterpicher Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods Of Incremental)This is actually the second time that this troper page has brought up. This was the first back in October,
and it ended without much of a resolution.
Ironically enough, I did message them about the namespace issue, but after checking my inbox just now, I never did get a response from them. At least the namespace issue has been cleared up now.
EDIT: Also at the risk of making this query long, has anyone actually directly P Med Jumbo addressing these issues aside from the YMMV page?
Edited by Arctimon^^ I mean, the page gives his first name, date of birth, current city, and city of birth, that's probably more information than he should be sharing.
Not commenting on the tropes themselves for fear of popcorning.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.

While trying to check their edits for an unrelated (but potentially just as ATT-worthy) problem
, I discovered that JumboJ99's troper page is in the wrong namespace (Troper/, rather than Tropers/), which means that not only is it free for anyone to edit, but it also shows up on related/ tabs, which a proper Tropers/ page is coded to never do.
More concerning, though, is YMMV.Jumbo J 99, which only has an entry for The Woobie, and is about themselves. The Woobie is NRLEP, so in addition to it being an invalid use of the namespace, this is also trope misuse. Very concerning trope misuse.
I don't want to get into the other issue right now in part because I'm not sure if there's actually anything to discuss with it and in part because someone else could very well make it anyway, but this issue in particular jumped out at me as something that needed to be addressed.
