Actually, as somebody on the UU cleanup thread just brought up, when chocula re-added the entry, they actually altered it to cover the explanation the other troper gave.

* Unintentionally Unsympathetic: While it's debatable how much we're supposed to agree with him, Tanjiro's sympathy for the demons he encounters as TragicMonsters rubs some fans up the wrong way. While it's true that these foes were once ordinary humans corrupted by Muzan, Nezuko's entire character revolves around the fact that it is possible for a demon to resist the urge to eat people, meaning they ultimately do have agency in their murderous actions.

Nehz, the troper who removed it, put in the explanation: "Nezuko is considered a special case due to being able to resist eating humans and even then she was trying to eat Tanjiro when she first woke up as a demon." So chocula re-added it like this.

Unintentionally Unsympathetic: While it's debatable how much we're supposed to agree with him, Tanjiro's sympathy for the demons he encounters as Tragic Monsters rubs some fans up the wrong way. While it's true that these foes were once ordinary humans that were corrupted by Muzan, demons like Nezuko, Tamayo, and Yushiro all prove that it is possible for a demon to resist the urge to eat people once they've come back to their senses, meaning demons ultimately do have agency in their murderous actions. Many demons are shown choosing to do what they do out of sadistic pleasure more so than anything. It makes moments where Tanjiro sympathizes with them hard to feel justified, since rarely do the demons seem to deserve it.

Is it still an Edit War if the entry had been altered? If not then this is my bad. I should've looked more closely at the entry before reporting it here. I'll take responsibility for it.

I’m gonna put some Gloom in your eye.

Yes. It is still an Edit War. I'm pretty sure alterations like that don't bypass Add - delete - readd. This is still the same entry with the wording changed

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."

Edit War in spirit, if not in practice. They should have discussed the new edit, either on the UU thread, PMs or ATT, instead of just making minor alterations and ramming it through.

Correct; edit wars are not automatically suspended because the edit itself is wrong. We tend to auto-suspend because they did not gain consensus first (linking to said consensus in the edit reasons makes us moderators less likely to misread the situation and apply an unnecessary ban). Using consensus to resolve a conflict is really the only tool we have to determine if an example is correct or not.
