The edit you made runs afoul of Administrivia.Examples Are Not General. From that page:

  • Good Examples Are Not General: While you don't necessarily have to cite the exact chapter or episode, examples do have to point to at least one specific instance of a trope occurring within a work to be considered valid. Broad statements and generalizations, like "Early anime dubs often had pointless cursing added to the script" may or may not be true, but without at least one specific example, they're considered unsubstantiated claims.

You can point out a specific instance of the trope occurring, but just saying that Japanese media does this alot is a statement that conveys zero information.

Yes, I planned to go look up a specific source/instance of this, but I stopped in the middle of it and wondered if I was allowed to include the entire example at all; so I went here to ask if I was allowed to elaborate (and cite the source in the process).

Yuzu has said pretty clearly that despite people’s view of him, he isn’t like that at all, so I’m not even sure it counts. To be a real-life example, it has to actually exist.

In that case it’s certainly not troping a real person. It may be a case of troping his media image, if that image is widespread, and in that case you’re troping the media depiction rather than a real person.

Eiryu: You're right, I know he protests the popular perception of him as the untouchable, impeccable Ice Prince - but that is, in and of itself, a fictional creation/flat character/caricature/PR image enthusiastically endorsed by the media and not the real Yuzuru Hanyu as a person. I'm not saying he is a Princely Young Man, I'm saying the media paints him as a Princely Young Man.

Right. But then it doesn’t go under the real-life folder, because it’s as real-life as the fact that Star Wars is a real movie I can go see. You see what I mean?

Hm. Would it then go under the Sports subfolder?

According to the source I cited, though, there is a tendency for male athletes to be called "ouji", but that doesn't preclude people in other fields.

Honestly I wonder if this couldn’t be expanded under an Analysis page. I’m not sure it would go under sports, either…I’m not sure we even have an established namespace for this.

FYI, I'm going to delete the RL entry, as I said before, it's too general to be a proper example.

Your entry about the media treatment of a specific person might fit better under either Sports, Advertising or just Other Media.
