The TVTropes Trope Finder is where you can come to ask questions like "Do we have this one?" and "What's the trope about...?" Trying to rediscover a long lost show or other medium but need a little help? Head to Media Finder and try your luck there. Want to propose a new trope? You should be over at the Trope Launch Pad.
Beware the Quiet Ones? I don't think that's quite it, but it seems closest. This is definitely a trope, although most of the examples are actually of a series'/film's main character being the quiet one- Doc Martin and Foyle of Foyles War in particular, and probably Smiley of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
Edited by GinaInTheKingsRoad Dramaturg, troper, theatre reviewer. (Please hire me.)There doesn't seem to be one. Calvin Coolidge (U.S. President number...30 if I counted correctly) is by far the most well-known example of a person who's like that, and if there isn't a trope on the list describing him, it's probably not on this site.
Sounds like something that would be a super trope of Precision F-Strike?
"The fact that your food can be made into makeshift bombs alarms the Hell out of me, Scrye." - CharlatanO.O.C. Is Serious Business is related.
Essentially this is The Quiet One or The Stoic in all its trope-y glory. This character is established as uncommunicative, so if they speak, it's important; if they start to show obvious joy or fear, run. Likewise, the Motor Mouth may chatter at the drop of a hat, but his or her silence is incredibly meaningful.
Edited by CharisetCesario spent the entire anime being The Quiet One. Then on the last episode, he finally speaks about an important plot point. It's so unlike him that even his own partner is stunned into silence.
we're so kink compatible we could pilot a jaeger

I'm looking for a trope that shows how the less dialogue a character tends to have, the more impact there is behind what they say, and vice versa. For instance, the audience can pretty much ignore whatever a Motor Mouth says, but when The Quiet One speaks, they'd better listen.
