The ::: markup. You will notice the indentation level of :: and ::: is the same here, but :: creates a gap. See here

A simpler solution is: neither of them. The entirety of the example should be within the same paragraph, and then you add the quote.

Yeah, the second bullet reads like an addition/reply to the frist, so they should be joined into one (and rewritten, if necessary).

The phrase "It should be noted" is Word Cruft, and the second-level bullet point is Conversation in the Main Page. If there's anything to salvage from the natter, merge it with the main example text.
