Yeah, Word of Dante explicitly requires that the "canon" come from something said or done by a big-name fan or the creator of an adaptation. Without a specific person to trace those things to, they're not examples.

If anything, I'd say those are examples of Fanon.

^^ Word of Dante is kind of in a weird position where it's both Fanon and Running the Asylum. Like, it's not mere "fanon". Word of Dante gets mixed into official follow-ups and sequels. It can't be YMMV because of that; if anything, it might be Trivia, because it's about something meta to the work (the specific origin of a piece of canon).

^ So word of Dante requires it actually influenced the official work?

Would the Samurai Jack example be Common Knowledge as opposed to Fanon (which is usually self-aware it's not official)?
