Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
You also need to make sure the thread is prepared in advance. A wick check if necessary, sometimes even a draft of the OP. Everyone on the TRS has pet projects we want to make threads for, and nobody really likes slots being taken by under-prepared tropers even if the issue is a valid one. Plus it makes actually taking the slot so much easier and faster.

Periphery Hatedom is a page meant to describe works that have a large hatedom from an audience the work was not intended for. Seems simple enough, and there are plenty of legitimate examples on the page. Furthermore, from the looks of my personal wick check it doesn't seem to be inappropriately used that much on the wiki (it is mainly used to describe examples of it in-universe in media or reviewers discussing it).
However, the page itself has plenty of issues. Mainly, there are way too many listings that are just thinly-veiled excuses to bitch about preschool shows. Here's an example I removed lately, bad formatting and all:
- Dragon Tales has a few haters like Brendan Barney, whose complaints are:
- Ord whining incessantly.
- Cassie's voice.
- Zak and Wheezie's bickering.
Firstly, Brendan Barney is not at all a well-known name to warrant a random shout-out on a page like this. (If you don't know, he's a GoAnimator notorious for videos complaining about preschool shows.) Secondly, let's be real, Dragon Tales—even at its peak—I highly doubt was on the same level of scrutiny, other than people who thought it was "boring" or too saccharine.
Speaking of that...
- PB&J Otter, to those who don't have fond memories of watching the show. Its overall brightness and cheeriness, combined with the overload of songs, create cavities to the ninth degree.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. The trope itself seems to be fine, and barring a few examples hasn't been abused too much. As for the page, I suggest it receive an Example Sectionectomy and only be up to describe Periphery Hatedom as a term, because at this point the page has long gone past "describing media with hatedoms older than its target demographic" and is now "people writing paragraphs for why this show meant for literal babies goes against the Geneva Convention".
Edited by FromtheWordsofBRYeah, you're gonna need a Wick Check. Right now your evidence is mostly anecdotal.
Edit: Wait, you had one. Okay, this feels more like it needs a cleanup thread than a TRS thread.

That was... seriously on the page? It's not like Dragon Tales was the only show or even the only kid's show to ever have dragons prominently in it...
Truth be told, I'd have to wonder whether or not the Periphery Hatedom page is even needed. It just seems like a complaint magnet. Few of the examples even fit! (For instance, I wouldn't call people upset about Adaptation Decay "periphery", but there are several listings of that on the page, among other issues...)
Edited by BaffleBlend "It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — Ultimatepheer^^^Periphery Hatedom is Flame Bait and is limited to on-page examples (i.e., it can't have off-page examples). Are you sure a wick check is required?
Also, one of the threads (the one for Stock Superpowers) should be closing soon, so a slot should be freed up soon.
Edited by GastonRabbit I got a rock for Halloween.Well, they did one anyway so the point is moot. I still don't think this is a TRS thing. TRS is for problems that can't be fixed without fundamentally altering the trope or doing a massive cleanup, not for every issue with a trope.
Edited by WarJay77 Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallThat said, if the cleanup runs into a roadblock, TRS might be the way to go. We just don't want to jump the gun.

What do I do if I have a really nagging case for a trope page needing help, but the TRS forum's thread limit has been reached?
