Wow, they're not even trying to be subtle. Yeah this is one of the most obvious ban evaders I've seen (assuming they are one.)

I don't see why they would be a ban evader, given that they never edited anything on the old account after the suspension was released. While it's possible they're trying to remove the suspension from their record, I think it's more likely they forgot the password to their old account or something like that.

Yeah, that's not ban evasion. They were released.

This is actually their third account. Moderation tools caught their second account being made right after they were released from their suspension. If there is a password/email problem, there's a contact form that can be used to fix this.

Revert on principle.

"Revert on principle"? So... they are a ban evader?

8th Sep, 2021 10:05:56 AM

^ No, but a multiple-accounts-haver.

8th Sep, 2021 10:33:25 AM

Shouldn't somebody let them know of this fact before banning them?

8th Sep, 2021 11:01:30 AM

It is entirely possibly they don't know they're doing anything wrong. On the other hand it's odd they would even make multiple accounts since the first one was released from the ban. Makes me wonder if they weren't trying to ban evade and/or never realized they were released.

To be released, the troper must've had a chitty-chat with the mods and understood not to do the thing they're not supposed to do, so it seems like they just lost their credentials.

Looks like Michael Katsuro did all the reversions.

^^ But they weren't suspended for making a new account, they were suspended for being a Bluenose Bowdlerizer. NVM misunderstood what "credentials" meant in this context.

They didn't make any edits after their suspension, so it's possible they might have just... not realized they could use their original account, or indeed lost the password and username.

But if they created the second (third?) account before their original was released, then they intended to ban evade.

8th Sep, 2021 12:50:14 PM

But they made the second account after the suspension for the first account was released, so that's not still ban evasion, right?

8th Sep, 2021 02:28:31 PM

Interesting, you learn new things every day. Why are multiple accounts banned? To avoid sock-puppeting, perhaps?

8th Sep, 2021 03:02:18 PM

^ For a site like this, if a person is creating multiple accounts, it's pretty safe to assume that they're doing so in order to sockpuppet or evade bans or other censures.

Is that true in every case? No, but it happens enough that it's not entirely unfair to operate on the assumption that if someone's doing that without notifying the staff, they're up to one of the above.

8th Sep, 2021 03:10:13 PM

Multiple accounts used to be allowed, typically for role- players on the forums iirc, so long as the mods were aware of the situation. Not sure how long ago it changed, but now that's no longer the case
