Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. Just NO

Well if nothing else, Nicky 99 is certainly being very rude.

FYI, critical reviews are audience reactions, a specific subset of general reactions.

18th Aug, 2021 04:38:48 PM

Bumping because this was not resolved

18th Aug, 2021 05:35:09 PM

^^I even mentioned that in the PM I sent to them; they still haven't sent a response. The rest of their editing activity looks somewhat benign based on what I've seen, it's just this one matter that they've been acting defensively about (which puts this into Single-Issue Wonk territory).

18th Aug, 2021 09:53:39 PM

Maybe we can try summoning the troper to this thread?

18th Aug, 2021 10:13:16 PM

Maybe. They still didn't respond to my initial PM, so I don't know if they'll respond to a summon, but it's worth a shot.

20th Aug, 2021 12:30:39 PM

Was occupied with other business the past couple of days, but I've just sent them a summon, and just after they reverted another removal of audience reactions in a work page.

Well I finally got a response from them, basically saying that they didn't care about being rude and that I'm the one with the problem because I'm not being considerate of how audience reactions impact creators (despite this matter being strictly about the established rules and standards for work pages). They did admit that they were simply busy with other things, which is why they didn't respond for so long, but overall they still seem pretty defensive about the matter.

(EDIT: replaced the direct quote with a paraphrasing)

Thoughts?

Your not allowed to share PM's from somome else.

Could you paraphrase that.

21st Aug, 2021 09:47:28 AM

Just did, thanks for letting me know.

21st Aug, 2021 10:06:32 AM

Well if they donít care about being rude then we might need mod attention.

21st Aug, 2021 10:40:26 AM

Agreed; at this point it might be the best course of action.

21st Aug, 2021 10:47:09 AM

I'm the one with the problem because I'm not being considerate of how audience reactions impact creators...

We're not going to go out of our to bash creators, but neither do we gush over them and remove anything that might be considered negative.

21st Aug, 2021 12:14:42 PM

Considering that they restored the massive chunk of text on the Cut the Crap page talking about how poorly the album was received, I think they view the matter as "audience reactions of any kind can directly impact a creator's career trajectory and thus deserve coverage" rather than "this wiki is too negative about things I like." Either way it's still going against the site's rules for work pages.

I get that audience reactions can directly influence a creator's career trajectory, and I get that it's possible to talk about audience reactions independently of your own perceptions of a work, but nevertheless it goes against the established rules and standards of a works page; that matter's for trivia and YMMV pages to handle under the appropriate tropes. Nicky 99's attitude here certainly doesn't help.

Again, I agree with themayorofsimpleton that mod intervention would be the best course of action.

23rd Aug, 2021 09:50:55 AM

Yeah, looking at their newer edit history they're still being defensive about critical reception not being an audience reaction (despite the site rules maintaining that it is). Adding back information about the singles was okay IMO (since that one doesn't talk about reception), but continuing to act this way about the audience reaction matter in the summary to a mostly unrelated edit is telling.

23rd Aug, 2021 07:42:38 PM

I sent them a PM as well, I have no idea why they're being so defensive and don't seem to realise that this isn't what the site wants. This feels like they're getting into just outright trolling territory.

24th Aug, 2021 06:12:40 PM

It might be time to use the page-report function.

24th Aug, 2021 07:41:34 PM

Hmm, maybe. Just to clarify, you mean using the report function on the page for Tropers/Nicky99 and describing the issue at hand through that, right?

24th Aug, 2021 07:53:10 PM

Or you do it on the page they last edited.

24th Aug, 2021 08:09:34 PM

I see; thanks for confirming/clarifying.

24th Aug, 2021 08:48:16 PM

Alright, I sent a report on their Tropers page since that seemed the most appropriate.

26th Aug, 2021 01:25:19 AM

Saw this Ask The Tropers and am enacting a suspension.

26th Aug, 2021 09:44:15 AM

Alright; it'll take some time to undo all of their restorations, but regardless I'm glad this issue could be resolved.
