Oh my God, it's been a year and one month and bigots still can't move on.

I would'nt go that far. Neither troper has written anything like that. It just seems to be controversial warring over an entry.

I'm not a fan of making snap judgements, especially if those two tropers didn't make any suspicious edits at all, but TLOUII is known for being very controversial. Can you call the two over to sort this out?

Yes. I am here. As you can see, I am clearly aware of the situation. When the other comes, we’ll settle this in a courteous manner without devolving into anybody spewing a word “bigot” after another.

Not sure what you mean by "spewing a word 'bigot' after another," but yeah, we should avoid popcorning.

I think they're referring to Dante's comment above.

I will say that even today the only thing I hear about TLOUII is the controversies surrounding Abby, Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy, and "the golf club scene" (don't want to spoil for anyone). I personally see a case for OBC.

But yeah bigotry doesn't seem evident here.

This is not an Edit War; the re-addition incorporated the advice given in the edit reason for the removal. That is sufficient for this not to count as an Edit War.

^^Overshadowed by Controversy is when a minor part of the work or something unrelated to the works quality (eg. production or creator drama) become so infamous it's rare/difficult to talk about the work by it overall merits.

TLOUII was deemed not this as the parts that are minor/unrelated enough to count as OBC (eg. crunch, culture warriors) have not overshadowed "Abby, Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy, and "the golf club scene"" which are too major parts of the story to count.

...Is "minor part" actually required for the trope? The main guidelines I've historically used and seen used in the cleanup thread are no minor controversies and no "bad work bad" stuff (where a widely unpopular work is listed as OBC for... being widely unpopular), but I've never seen anything about it only applying to minor parts of the work, just that controversy has to outweigh everything else.

Like, I've historically avoided discussion about this particular work because I find both sides generally distasteful, but as a broader principle I don't ever remember seeing this before.

Boy... that escalated quickly. I mean that really got out of hand fast.

To say that this game is The Last Jedi of video games would be a major understatement.

So what's the The Rise of Skywalker of video games?

In all seriousness though, I'm legitimately surprised as you are how this is still relevant as much as Sony receiving flak for their actions.

Eh, good enough.

I also haven't heard of the "minor" requirement, but if so, then fair enough. On the OBC page, it says that a premise could potentially be the source of the controversy—would that perhaps cover it? It wouldn't be inaccurate to say that the premise of the game—Beloved main character Joel is killed early on (so one of the trailers for the game outright lied to players) and his killer Abby takes his place as the second main playable character—is the core of it. Or would that not count, either? (I will say that unneeded and shocking violence, also listed on the OBC page, was also a major criticism of the game but unsure if it was necessarily an overshadowing controversy.)

Just to be clear, I didn't mean that everyone is still talking about the game like it just came out, just that when they do it's usually about this, at least in my experience.

I also haven't heard about that requirement. Also, the example discussion might need to be moved here.
