Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Do we have a trope for black animated characters that resemble Black Face stereotypes?
As for the Panty Shot stuff.... yeah, I can't even notice the scene where her panties are visible, so that seems to be a guy looking too deep into it.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Do you want me to get the attention of a mod on this? Or would you like to wait for one? Because not only is that just bad troping, but what they wrote for "panty shot" has alot of bad implications regarding the troper in question...
Edited by Stardust5099 It's 5 o' clock somewhere!Stardust: I'm already getting mod attention by making this thread, but it's nice of you to offer.
Hashiriya: Yes, he kept describing Nausicaä's "bodacious apple bottom" in the Ghibli movie.
EDIT: Here's a new addition to their already extensive description of "panty shots" in Tiny Toon Adventures: Terre from "The Roches" segment of "New Character Day". First, they're shown from the side and appear either light pink or flesh-colored when she moves to the side of the toy bus's backseat away from Suzzy. Then, they're revealed frontally and match her mint green skirt when she, and Suzzy, jostle with each other.
I read shonen manga in my youth. Some of it had panty shots. These aren't panty shots. They're panties happening to be visible. There is a difference. That difference is obvious to everybody who's not constantly looking for children's panties. I'm not saying Dawalk is a pedophile, but I am saying he edits like a pedophile.
Edited by MichaelKatsuroThey were suspended nearly a year ago
, their suspension was only released a few days ago
, and the Colour Failure edit was the very first one they made since they were released. And then there's this inappropriate Panty Shot obsession of theirs.
Edit: It wasn't even their first suspension
. Some people never learn...
I don't think that Blackface example is misuse; the trope page lists animated and drawn characters. Calling every glimpse of underwear a Panty Shot even if it's not used deliberately for fanservice is a common mistake.
Oh, I realized this is the same troper who was suspended for adding examples to Through a Face Full of Fur that were just about characters blushing.
Edited by rjd1922 Keet cleanup^ I'd recommend splitting off the latter but maybe ask in Trope Idea Sounding Board
.
Before this page will get locked, I would say to say this: This is probably one of the creepiest description of three fanservice tropes I've ever seen.
"Now it's starting to feel like a game!"^ Yeah, I heard that it was worse. Doesn't change the fact that they put fanservice tropes about a minor (Cartoon or not).
"Now it's starting to feel like a game!"

Dawalk 86 was released recently, and has some issues.
There's a bit of Zero Context:
The Black Face one also doubles as misuses, since it's a black character who looks like that. Racist old trope, but not this racist old trope.
Then there's Word Cruft (bolded part):
Finally, there's a whole lot this kind of troping:
(I forced myself to look this up. HERE
is the so-called panty-shot. It's not really a panty-shot as much as it's just panties being briefly visible, and it indicates that Dawalk just wanted to write about a child's panties.)
In itself not a problem that someone tropes those things as long as they're done correctly. Still, even disregarding that "Dorothy, whose skirt billows up" should read "Dorothy's skirt billows up", I'm just not sure that this is an intentional example of the trope. Also, Dawalks seems eager to trope panty shots, and again, it could just be an innocent interest so I don't want to assume. But it seems, well, one-handed. So to speak. And it seems as if he's looking for any reason to write about children's panties.
EDIT: Also, I've gone through all his post-release edits, and these are his basic trends:
- Posting Shes Got Legs every time a woman's legs are at all visible, regardless of whether it's meant to be sexy or just is a couple of legs existing.
- Posting Marilyn Maneuver every time a skirt lifts a bit for any reason.
- Calling every glimpse of visible panties a Panty Shot.
