The Lost Shards series by Charlie Pulsipher? https://www.goodreads.com/series/162893-the-lost-shards

Trying to find this series for a friend, they read it when they were a kid about 12 years ago so the details might be a little off but there's enough specifics I'm surprised I haven't been able to find it sooner.
The core premise is the gods decide to destroy the solar system and build a new one around the same sun, this time with all 9 planets hosting life with unique cultures. The main characters are the last three people left alive from the old Earth and their primary goal is to gather the shards of a crystal orb that got scattered throughout the new solar system, that would give them the power to bring back Earth or overthrow the gods or something. Despite it's more sci-fi setting the tone was distinctly high fantasy with magic and fantasy creatures everywhere.
The only other details they can remember clearly are the gods used to be mortals and were granted godhood by a sentient rulebook, at some point in the series the god of war dies and is replaced with a wolf, and a recurring antagonist is a wizard that turns people to stone, rips out their hearts, and has a jaguar familiar.
