What are some examples of "lying about other things"?

After a cursory look at the Video Game folder, the writeups for Pokémon Sword and Shield and Cyberpunk 2077, which contain lies about the development processes of the game, come to mind.

There's definitely a difference between lying about the plot and lying about other things. Lying about the plot is not exactly a plot trope, since it's external to the work, but it's related since it affects the audience's experience.

Lying about other things, on the other hand, is just plain lying. And, unfortunately, probably PSOC.

Unfortunately, especially in the gaming world, there's a tendency to shoehorn in complaining about the creators and publishers not living up to audience expectations. I guess "the publisher is lying about the game" ranks up among "the developers are lazy" and "the publisher is greedy" as top complaints. But that's not what this trope is about.

Yeah, there’s no way saying that the developers are “lying to their fans!” , rather than merely protecting plot twists, can be anything but complaining.
