I haven't watched the Pokemon anime since the middle of XY but the edit reason sounds like someone only talking about their own opinion on the matter rather than the opinion of a portion of the fandom. Hell, the end basically says "people haven't realised something I did" which is a bit arrogant.

Isn't Rescued for actual scrappies, not Base Breaking Characters? If that's the case then I think this is misuse anyway.

Iris isn't a scrappy outside to shippers in a middle of ship-to-ship combat (basically the fighting over who Ash should be with in the future when he's done adventuring and wants to settle down romantically). At most she would be a base-breaking character from Best Wishes.

If Iris is no longer causing a broken base outside obvious shipping wars, then it could be a case of Author's Saving Throw I think.

I thought people legit hated her since nobody seems to like Best Wishes as a whole and she factors heavily into that.

Regardless, the removal seems sound if only because she's apparently a BBC. I do think the troper who did it needs a PM or something, though.

I PM'd the troper, Zoroark69, about this thread and invited them to the discussion.

Base-Breaking characters can be Rescued from the Scrappy Heap... I know there's precedent, but I'd have to find the ATT for it.

In this ATT, a troper defended that Base-Breaking characters can be Rescued from the Scrappy Heap, but I don't think there is a consensus. This question has been brought up before, but apparently nobody in the cleanup thread could come up with a definitive answer.

Might it be worth running by the cleanup thread again?

(Edit: I'm bad at links)
