Since I've pretty much hated Aggie for most of the comic and found Penny derailing into a really dull character in order to make them a couple, I'd welcome a spin-off on Sara. She's actually one of the reasons I'm sticking out this comic to the end.
I mean...honestly, I care FAR more about the drama in Sara's love life than the strangled red string on Penny and Aggie.
Huh. I'm not sure Lisa has enough depth to carry her own strip. She can be entertaining as a non-sequitor sidekick when she works, or she can dip right into forced quirkiness that makes you want to punch her. But she's not got much else to her that wouldn't require taking out a lot of what is essential to her character as it is.
The more I think about it, the more I think T. probably will just let the universe lie. Delving into any of the core cast would inevitably lead to questions about the rest of the cast, thus unraveling whatever ending he had planned for the series. Better to leave us wanting more than wishing it'd keel over and die.
I recently started re-reading only because there was finally some plot traction, especially with Penny and Aggie.
"You want to see how a human dies? At ramming speed." - Emily Wong.Jack and Katy-Ann: Will they or won't they?
(whether I mean "fuck" or "stay together" is a question I leave open to the reader)

This look like Penny's not "into it" to anyone?
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117It's probably a bit soon to call it rape, but yeah...not liking this at all. Penny wants to be romanced
, not roughhandled.
Dat art... Geeze, I'd forgotten what the comic looked like in the pre-Giselle days.
EDIT: Derp, forgot that that WAS her art. Just a long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

deviantArt | TwitterYea, I expected to obviously not be into the obvious sex scene coming up in this strip this week because I don't like them as a couple, but hey, the fandom that does ship them won and they deserve their prize.
This crosses so many lines. Look, lesbians can be rapists. Putting a pair of them into a scene that's set up the way a number of man-on-woman rape scenes are set up in fiction doesn't make it romantic, it's creepy as hell. I'm also very uncomfortable with how many people on the official site are implying that there's "implied consent" because Penny hasn't said no.
I'd really hope T. backs away from this precipice, but I am very fearful Friday is going to reveal Penny does like it and that will make it "okay".
Eh, it's a valid sexual dynamic. In my last relationship, my girlfriend was a serious submissive and liked the whole being dominated thing. But the problem is that you really have to be able to read the mood, because when you can't, it's rape. But it can be difficult for the dom to get a grasp on the situation, as they have accepted the role. I mean, we all know Aggie is just playing here-she thinks that Penny's into it, or wants to be into it, or any other justification. But there's a failure to communicate. It'll probably end up with Aggie having to apologize profusely.
If there's consent beforehand, it's a different situation, but here Aggie's pounced her, held her down, and shoved her tongue in her ear while calling her a bitch. Which is pretty tame for a BDSM scenario, of course...but starting it? Out of the blue? And heck, right after they've just been through comforting a close friend?
It's also a hell of a leap for Aggie to be all "I don't know if I love Penny because of her lack of sincerity over my rat dying..." to "SEX NAO!"

I haven't been in one, no. But still, I doubt a BDSM relationship starts without either party expressing they're into the experience. What happens beyond that may not have any given consent per encounter, but the people I've known that get into it actively scout other partners with that desire first. In that case, the consent is given that these elements are PART of the relationship...instead of a random partner initiating BDSM on someone who has never agreed to or even expressed interest in it.
It's more accurate to say that one partner tends to express a slowly increasing level of preference to domination or submission. Each level of progression can be spontaneous, and there's certainly a point where the line gets crossed, but the dominator is not always aware of where that line is. Now, the question is, have there been behind the scenes scenarios where Penny and Aggie have been exploring the sexual nature of their relationship that legitimizes this escalation or not. Even if the escalation is legitimized, that of course doesn't mean Aggie's actions are "right," but it certainly makes them explainable.
Obviously, Penny should just tell Aggie off at this point. But it is awkward. They'll both see it as a mistake, probably break off the relationship, and then talk about it over wine in a cynical fashion years in the future.
I'm also hoping Penny has words with her, but it doesn't have to lead to a breakup. Seems to me this is a misunderstanding on Aggie's part. She knows Penny once was involved with a Badass Biker, and so probably assumes Rich was into that stuff; she recalls the fun she and Penny had wrestling underwater (a rather different situation from the current one), and she took Penny letting her "top" in the closet as a sign she likes being a sub, even though they weren't doing anything rough in there.
All Penny has to do is tell Aggie to stop (which I'm sure Aggie would if told to) and then tell her she's not comfortable with the shoulder-pinny / ear-licky stuff. That she'd rather the sex be gentle and have some sweet-talk, some foreplay.
The only way I could see this leading to a breakup, especially a permanent one that they'd "discuss cynically over wine" or whatever, is if Penny loses her temper and says something she can't take back. But we know Penny deeply cares for Aggie and has angsted over how best to reach her. And, she was the one who fell in love first and who initiated the relationship. So no, I don't think it's over just yet.

I'm gonna miss it so much...
I hope T does the spinoff that he's said he's considering. No, he hasn't said who it would be about, but in short the signs
point to Sara.
