Anyway yeah, I don't get the purpose of this thread now - I mean there are other contributors but no one really talks about them - the ones that do end up in the Doug thread.

Well, I suppose CA technically still exists, so there's that. I don't think we need to "do" anything about this thread, just let it run its course. Its already practically died down completely without any outside help.

We can just keep it in case there is any new developments, I suppose. And its not like TV Tropes doesn't archive everything anyway.

of the original Three "pillars" Linkara seems to be the only one that is actively celebrating Ten years and has a clear passion for the next ten which is funny cause of the three many pegged Lewis as the one that would be a niche' guy that never got that big or would never last that long

Spoony is... well Who knows what Spoony is up to these days was the one people thought had all the talent and the persona to push on to bigger and better things who challenged the Status Quo of the big fanbases not afraid to attack BIG name targets... He's the one that burnt out the quickest and his legacy is one of mockery now with his Fan hater shtick to solid of stigma to break and well Noah is Noah its hard to escape the fubiles of your character

and Doug.. He's gotten better but the NC is still the NC something he wanted to escape but can't... is actively behind the times of others when it comes to critique and research and now the illusion of Doug as "The good Guy" is gone. Its hard to respect him.

Its almost like if Kickassia had a second ending where Critic got overthrown... but instead of him and the rest of TGWTG crew getting kicked out. He is left alone to watch over Molossia as custodian so President Baugh and family can go off on a 5 year globe trotting vacation and He can't leave nor call any of his friends back. I thought it was interesting how Linkara's 10th Anniversary episode worked in Lewis' mixed feelings about the CA Anniversaries, with the ultimate resolution that whatever shit happened, they still contributed to making him the man he is today.

Of the original Big Three, Linkara quickly shed the Angry Recapper schtick. His videos for a looong time have been more good-natured riffing than angry ravings, to the point that the only real difference between a recap of a comic he likes versus one he hates tends to be the summation at the end.

Could you summarise the tweets please?

Essentially, Allison was agreeing with a tweet ERod made where he said how disappointed he was that so many of his fans kept going out of their way to message him about how they still watch Doug's videos despite knowing about the things he's done. Allison vented about how many comments she sees of a similar ilk. She later went on about how she felt personally betrayed about how Brad was publically badmouthing her behind her back, disregarded her concerns about how badly the site was managed, and seemed to blame her for the harassment he received for staying on the site.

Really, it's nothing that wasn't already public knowledge.

I'm still surprised its a regularly updating thread around here. The man is a horrible person and yet still has fans and fans ON THIS SITE?

I think its just so heartless to go 'I know that happened, but too bad, so sad, don't care, When's the next NC coming out?". It baffles my mind. Just get rid of garbage in your life.

You do realize a decent chunk of the regular updates involve talking about the drama, right? If you want to complain about people talking about the updates, go to the doug walker thread.

I'm talking about the Doug Walker thread. Sorry. I might have been a bit vague on accident. I'm not blaming anyone for talking about the drama in this thread.

I mentioned this in the Doug Walker thread, but one of the reasons I still sometimes watch NC, is to support Tamara and Malcolm. But, even that seems like a chore given the lesser quality of Doug's videos (while not terrible I just feel his joke delivery and timing feels off).

Tamara and Malcolm burned all interest in me with their "JUST READ IT" and "YOU OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T READ IT" tweets when the original controvercy was happening. No, you two, I read the CA response and it didn't actually address any of the arguments made. I did read it. I just didn't buy the cheap excuse. It was just kind of... sad and a tad pathetic.

I get that they're employees and this is their actual job they're paid for and I also get that, oh boy, the people tweeting them in the first place weren't nice, but saying nothing would have been better. Everyone would have understood, and... honestly, why is this what you're willing to stay around for? Surely you guys can find other acting gigs, right? This is the hill you'll die on? One that's probably not going to be looked upon kindly wherever you go next?

Well, they probably can, in theory, but acting is a notoriously brutal profession: many people auditioning for a limited number of roles, with no guarantee that you're even going to get one. CA is unique in that it offers a steady and regular paycheck, a rarity in the acting world, especially for non-established names. Also, by most accounts, Malcolm, Tamara, and the rest of the Chicago crew are treated well by the management (Doug apparently did get better at treating his cast with respect). With all that, the fact that they hadn't really worked with non-Chicago CA producers all that much, and the hate they had received for staying on the site, I can see why M&T decided to defend CA. I'm not posing a verdict whether it was a good decision but I can understand the reasoning behind it.

Sure, but wouldn't a smarter option have been to say NOTHING and then look for more jobs privately? You probably wouldn't be digging your own grave at that point.

Would saying nothing have been a better choice? Perhaps, though people would've still wondered whether the Chicago crew had also been subjected to the mistratment from CA. (In fact, that's why shortly after the release of Not So Awesome, Malcolm drew up a statement, shared by Tamara, Walter, etc., that basically said "Hey, guys, I know many of you have been worried about us, so I just want to say that we've been treated well by CA. However, that doesn't invalidate any of the claims of the people who criticize the company." Of course, that didn't please some people who continued to harass the Chicago crew which might have inspired them to take the more defensive position.)

As for looking for other jobs, well, Malcolm and Tamara do take other acting gigs. It would be dumb to put all your eggs in one basket. But you probably mean leaving CA in order to pursue other roles. Which, again, why would they want to leave? Like I said, CA offers a rare steady and regularly paid acting gig; from a business standpoint, it would be unwise to throw it out for possible other jobs. Plus, members the Chicago crew seem to be legitimately friends with each other and the Walkers, so that probably makes them even less inclined to ditch CA. (Of course, the former CA producers also made an impression of being all friends, so take that for what you will.) And sure, at the time, it seemed that the company might go under but as we can see now (still steady views, return of sponsors, getting back to visiting cons, more subscribers than before the controversy, new studio, etc.), that wasn't the case.

Well, that's assuming that Malcolm and Tamara's potential employees in the future would really care about their reaction to the CTC controversy. And I'm not sure if that would be the case.

You'd be surprised what can come up with future employers. Having some kind of a bad mark on your internet history can be a red flag to someone, especially if they don't know or understand the context? Would I refuse to hire them over the CA controvercy? Probably not. But I'm not the one in that position who might just things harsher and not know the context.

My point is more that maybe they shouldn't have made statements that turned people against them. Yes, internet harassment is dumb and stupid, but tweeting 'READ', 'JUST READ', 'YOU OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T READ IT' at everyone is dumb and immature.
