I'm not saying it would solve all my problems. I'm just saying it would somewhat distract me from them.

Until Mass Effect 3 comes out, anyway.

So, online dating. Did anyone here try it?

I am a little uneasy about the idea, but lately, I have been thinking that it might be kind of fun to give it a try — I am in no hurry to find someone, but I am starting to get bored with the whole "don't even think about romance for now" thing and I have no current prospects...

This site appears to have worked very well as a dating site for a lot of people.

*Raises hand* It's a bit touch and go, but I've done it. 1 relationship, several dates that led to friendships, dating sites aren't all bad. OKCupid worked out for me.

But as Idler noted, here can work too. But I'd suggest one of the majorish sites as well.

I tend to be wary of online dating site. However, I am a-okay for joining a site with no intention of getting a date whatsoever and ending up falling for someone on the site.

Well, that depends on the definition of "well". I do believe I've met a match for me here, but I'd be damned if I know where this will lead.

[up][up]Are awesome too, unless they are the obsessed PC Gamer variety, which are just annoying.

But that might just be because I hate the philosophy of any console gamer on principle, and prefer the Cakman approach of BUY THEM ALL. ALL OF THEM.

OR AT LEAST NOT ARGUE ABOUT THE SUPERIORITY OF YOUR CONSOLE FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME.

Yeah, I have bad memories.

@ AHR: Well, not necessarily. Part of me is going "Having a very real crush on someone in this site is a very bad idea". The other goes "Sure, Why Not??" Not sure which one to listen to.

My approach to gaming would be "Buy everything that does not require a console when I am living with my parents and literally everything when I move out."

Well, I dunno if you should crush on someone here, but whatever you do, don't put your interests down. Kay?

Cause they're awesome and you'll meet plenty of people who share the same interests.

You just need to look for the codgy old buggerheads.

Not exactly putting my interest down. It's difficult to say.

I mean, after you've failed in romance every single time sine elementary school, you'll tend to not have a strong opinion of yourself and everything pertaining to it.

1) Don't be a creepy jerk.

2) Don't be a sniveler.

3) ...

From this point on, I am pretty sure I have no control over. Apparently wherever I go, I've found that girls I have my eyes on had already had more awesome people in their hearts.

Tried OK Cupid for a while, but too many familiar faces kept popping up(what with the whole person-in-the-proximity thing and OK Cupid not being that popular across the pond), faces with a bad rep for being desperate or downright creepy. Could've just blocked them, but I extrapolated their characteristics to the rest of the local userbase and it sort of ruined the thing for me. Figured I know enough people in meatspace anyway, so it's not really my preferred option of getting to know a person.

I'm too young to use a dating site.

I have a suspicion that one day when I'm old and becoming desperate for companionship I'm going to try one. I don't forsee it ending well.

Various anecdotes I've heard have not helped this view tongue

So, an epilogue to my failed romance: To add insult to injury, I made the mistake of mentioning this girl offhand to mom other the other day, and now she's freaking obsessed with her. She's actually trying to convince me to look her up in the phonebook and track her down. I never knew I was related to a stalker. She's also making way to big a deal about this, I don't even know how a minor, passing crush equates to "MY SON IS GETTING MARRIED YAAAY!"

Tell your mom it's not that important.

Belive me, I tried. She doesn't care. She won't admit it, but my mother is the kind of parent who tends to obsess about finding partners for all of her children, and it doesn't help that I've never been in a single "real" relationship.
