But Proto Ringo has such a great sound!
That's such a shame about multiple Fifth Beatles — The Other Wiki lists more than ten
. Otherwise it is ideal: it suggests the concept without using a mystery name.

Another shot at differentiation:
[1]: Two actors play the same role at different times. Both are familiar to viewers and officially acknowledged by the show.
[2]: Ideally, nobody in the audience knows about the switch. There is an attempt to remove all official record of the original actor's involvement. It is almost Orwellian.
[3]: The new performer becomes well-known, possibly legitimately famous. The old performer, if anybody knows about them at all, becomes known for leaving, not for what they actually did in the show/band/whatever, or for anything else they may have done. However, there is no effort to deny the original performer's role in the past, it's just that they are no longer longer part of the show.
So, the various Bond actors make up a [4]. They are all more or less popular and officially recognized as having played Bond.
Eric Stoltz is a [[The Other Marty]] for [5]. He is not listed in the credits, and (almost) all of his shots were re-done with Michael J. Fox.
Josh Weinstein is a [[The Pete Best]] for MST 3 K. His replacement is much better known, while he remains obscure. No one has tried to deny him credit, or re-shoot his scenes with his replacement, he's just not around anymore.
Crown Description:
Vote up for yes, down for no.

i still think something like The First Ringo (The Original Ringo?) or Was There Before Ringo ought to work well, without losing the beatles reference. it seems we haven't quite reached consensus yet, though.
