Thing is, it was cut by Fast Eddie. Discussion here
.
Even though that breaks it away from conceptions that "Character Named Tropes must be renamed", I don't think it actually changes the conception that Character Named Tropes aren't meant to be encouraged.
The problem with it as it was before was that it was clearly saying "we don't want to have these" which raises the obvious question "Well if we don't want them, why do we have them and why are we listing them instead of getting rid of them?".
A more neutral description, while not actually reversing the above, does render it a less obvious question.
My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username.Well, it seems that Fast Eddie has cut the page again and locked it. He didn't leave a word of explanation anywhere I see; I suppose he doesn't have to, but I don't expect to believe anyone else's excuse for his actions. This story's moral is shaping up to be a Lost Aesop.

Note: this discussion relates to the Character Named Tropes page, not the individual tropes indexed there.
As I originally created it, Character Named Tropes was created both as an index and a general summary of the debate over the pros and cons of renaming these tropes, but I wrote that at a time when Trope Repair Shop didn't exist. Sometime later, Character Named Tropes was rewritten to be more negative, and then it got cut in what looks like a fit of pique.
I've reinstated Character Named Tropes just so it can still function as an index, but I'm wary about the description. I think the description shouldn't claim that they all need to disappear, but it should have a minimum of special pleading for individual tropes and not incite Justifying Edits. I also don't want to infringe on the administrative function of Trope Renaming Guidelines.
Another idea: is it better to keep the index restricted to "tropes that are characters' names, not any tropes that include character names," or should it be expanded to cover tropes such as Mega Manning or The Dulcinea Effect?
