Hahaa. Just hit the "Keikaku means plan" line. Oh, and I captured that Great Jaggi. Not all that tough, though I did place the shock trap while it was sleeping.
I think you'll enjoy the next big fight...
Make sure your weapon has at least Green sharpness...
I'm up to the 'Capture the Quadrapeco' mission right now.
Anyway, anyone up to play together online tomorrow?

^^ Well I guess I'd better work on upgrading that lance of mine, then.
Where can I find Machalite Ore? That's what I need to upgrade to a Thane Lance.
It's not particularly common, but you can get it while doing a free hunt. Go into the caves with the giggi. They're also found underwater occasionally, and they're pretty common in later zones.
If you go to Moga forest and go to area 12(?) you have to swim through the zone with no land at all to get there, it's a wee cave full of bugs, there's normally a mining spot there which gives ~12 mines so you can get some there.
It's not hugely rare though, any mining spot will give it you eventually.
Oh god I'm afraid of going to Area 12 because I keep thinking the Lagiacrus will show up again if I go into the water. Are my fears grounded or baseless?
Don't worry, by the time you meat Lagiacrus again, he's a LOT simpler...and by that, I mean you really won't have any excuse for getting killed by him when you fight him the next time you meet him. Thats how much easier he becomes.
The game is pretty simple all the way until you go to the Tundras and meet Gigginox. Great Jaggi, Gay Bird, Royal Ludroth, Barroth, and Great Baggi are all simple enemies...they won't get any harder until you meet Gigginox. And even then, just stock up on antidotes and hot potions.
The Lagiacrus is just a slightly bigger Royal Ludroth that shoots lightning balls instead of water balls.
And don't worry, Lagi won't appear until the next urgent quest involving him...if you wanna prepare for Lagiacrus, just fight R. Ludroth a few times, they're almost identical in terms of pattern. Lagia just hurts a bit more...and have a wider reach.

In the Moga woods gathering area large monsters will only show up after you've beaten them as actual quests, so you might find G.Jaggis but there'll be no Lagiacrus until you can actually beat one.
I'm guessing you encountered one in that 'gater 3 monster guts' quest? They do that every game but it still scares the hell out of me. Especially so in this one 'cause I'm not great at swimming yet; I accidentally swam to the surface and couldn't see Lagi anymore, then his huge head reared up next to me...
^Yes, that's the one that scared me out of the water.
What was even worse was that I retreated to Area 10 to farm the rest of the guts there, and then the Lagiacrus showed up again. Almost died because I exhausted my Stamina trying to swim fast all the way to the shore.
And that's why I took much longer on the next mission (Kill 5 Ludroths) than I should have.
Yeah he won't turn up again until 5* quests or so. Some quests have the label 'unstable' which means other monsters can show up, but with the exception of the guts one, none of the early village quests do.
Woo! Found enough Machalite Ore to make the next lance!
Now I just need to get the scratch for the upgrade. Which means it's time to go back to old quests that I didn't take.
...now where are those Crystal Bones... Must google.
By the way, I'm impressed that, in the Sandy Plains, they actually programmed it so that the open desert sun doesn't cause you heat damage, provided you're standing in a shaded spot.
Crystal Bones can be mined in the Sandy Plains. The cave is the best spot to do so.

Oh god now I know why this is a 3 star mission, on par with capturing a Great Jaggi.
I have never had a worse experience delivering eggs.
And then I had to go talk to that Felyne in my base camp. No I have to make a third run if I want to complete the main quest!
If anyone cares to team up, I'm playing right now.
Does Lagi show up every time you do that guts quest? I want to try to kill it before its time.

^You in EU or NA? Not that I can play right now, but at some point...
^^Ugh, the egg gathering missions, I was so glad when those were unecessary for continuation in Unite; in Monster Hunter Freedom to unlock the final offline quests you had to carry a 'Powderstone' back to camp. This was basically a giant egg which could only be found at the area furthest from camp, exploded if dropped and as soon as you picked it up a Gravios (giant lava wyvern) warped to the zone next door and every other zone filled with poisonous Ioprey (super-jumping Jaggi.) Absolutely awful.
Yeah. Similar thing. After delivering the first egg, suddenly all the most convenient paths are blocked with boulders, and there's angry Rhenoploses, Melynxes and Altaroths everywhere. The most fun part is dodging Melynxes in a dark cave (it's going to be dark because you can't light a torch while carrying the egg!)
And I fell for that Felyne in my base camp twice. Ugh. At least it's over and the funds got me a new lance. Which has a pretty sweet-looking shield if I do say so myself.
Anyone know where I can get Pelagicite Ore? Is it just another rare mining result, like the Machalite?
Plegacite ore is found in the Flooded Forest, usually underwater.
And I must be pro at this game or something because I'm at the last few 5 star quests before taking on the Big Bad
Oh, and if you guys think Lagiacrus is easy, wait until you actually have to take on the quest where you have to hunt him instead of just repelling. That's when he busts out all of his moves and you actually have to go through more than just a sliver of his health. And then there's his capture quest... where it's in the Flooded Forest, has all of his moves, fights practically only underwater, has an unstable environment in which either Royal Ludroth or Gobul shows up, and usually doesn't get weak enough for capture until the last 5 minutes given that you've been attacking often enough. Phew!
I HATE capture quests.
Did I mention that the quest is mandatory? And it's the only way to get Cha-cha back when he disappears after hunting Lagi?

Oh, it gets even better. Turns out Lagiacrus is easier than some of the monsters that follow. Why hello there, Barioth.
On a side note, I have a neat weapon called a Red Bludgeon. whenever you draw it or swing with it, you can hear the roars of the Rathalos used to make it if you listen carefully.
Freakin' capitals mess up tags.
