The Arch Tempered monsters have different gear sets but most of them suck so it doesn't really matter.

You get access to better ones as your rank goes up, but your level is capped until you do the double tempered Bagel Juice quest, which should get you access to the rest of the arch tempered non elder dragons and better decorations. Then gets capped yet again until the AT Kirin quest, after which you will have access to the Ark Tempered Elder Dragons. and even better rarer decoarations.

it's also the only source fo streamstones to perfect your weapons.

Tee HR 49 kirin is just regular tempered though, not arch-tempered.

tempered kirins where i'm at.

honestly i find kirin tedious enough at high rank that i have no motivation to try tempered. that thunder armor is just tiresome

Nov 25th 2018 at 3:39:39 PM

I think Quest Luna is more difficult than regular investigation versions of her, on the level of a tempered monster.

Then again, her supernova killing you even if you dodged it because OOPS THE FLOOR IS LAVA is kind of a dick move regardless.

so some friends and i just did the dante event quest, unlocked the dante set, it looks pretty cool.

but we heard it was also a layered armor set, only im hearing we now have to beat arch tempered teostra to get teostra tickets?

have arch tempered beasts even been added to pc yet?

The layered Dante set isn't here yet; just hang on to 2 red orbs after it leaves, and it'll show up eventually.

Hiya.

Generations stuff... how are you supposed to avoid death as a gunner? Being a gunner just seems brutal and unforgiving if youíre bad at dodging; you die in two or three hits, and damage output isnít great.

There are so many times when I misread a monster, realize Iím locked in an animation and Iím like "...I guess Iíll just die," because I donít have enough defense to survive anything.

This is why Adept and Valor are well-regarded among gunners in Generations/Generations Ultimate: they give you some extra opportunities for avoiding or mitigating damage.

Even with the Adept evade, I often end up dying because I misjudge how close the monster is and thus when I should do what Piccolo says and DOOOOOOOODGE!

Gunner weapons are particularly hard to use in single player in traditional monster hunter. They have half the defense (Albeit more elemental defense) and the LBG and HBG are relatively slower weapons which make it hard to both damage AND not get killed.

LBG and HBG are meant for expert hunters, really, due to how much you need to prepare them before the hunt AND how much you need to know monster patterns to get the most out of them.

And in either case, all of the gunner weapons are best suited for multiplayer where you can have melee weapons to draw aggro or keep the monster from killing you.

The best advice I can give is to just not play a gunner weapon, or play the bow since it's generally the fastest.

Is this a good thread for discussing fanon ideas?

See, my friend and I are making our own generation of MH. One thing I had in mind was making all Lynians available as companions, including Grimalkynes and the -lakas.

Since our Legendary Generation also brings back Prowler Mode, I was considering that maybe the different Lynians would be excellent at different things. Basically, what I thought of was each Lynian race having a Palico (or Palaka) Skill basically built-in without needing Skill Memory (though other Lynian races can get them as normal skills). With a few tips from my coworkers, this is what I came up with:

  • Felyne/Melynx: Boomerang Pro
  • Grimalkyne: Pro Trapper
  • Shakalaka: Defense Up L (to help make melee Prowlers more viable)
  • Gajalaka: Status Attack Up

Any thoughts?

To the Shakalakas, we are Minions. Ask Cha-Cha and Kayanba [lol]

Are you guys considering more Amphibians, Neopterons, Carapaceons and Temnocerans for the monsters?

This isn't really a problem in my experience with MHGU, where Narga Bowgun + Adept Style + Pierce Ammo kills literally everything.

Am I alone in wanting to make melee Prowlers viable, and wanting to play as a Gajalaka?

Gajalaka are my favorite Lynians, I actually think theyíre really cute.

Gajalaka are actually pretty badass, they throw around huge bombs, and spam paralysis knives like they're going out of style. And they're pretty much completely fearless, make friends with them and they'll even dogpile an Elder Dragon for you.

[up][up][up]GU is hardly traditional monster hunter [lol] But besides the point, Adept kinda. breaks the rules of monster hunter in the first place

Well, World has the Temporal Mantle (which is a braindead Adept mode), so...

And I really think the Foresight Slash for LS was a good attempt at borrowing the amazing Brave parry from MHGU, though not as satisfying to pull off.

[up]you mean the ultra instinct mantle.

speaking of which,i should probably dig up the file with the names of the items and rename that mantle that.

Dec 6th 2018 at 5:52:38 AM

whelp.

dealt with tempered kirin.

about as tedious as the basic kirin, but it doesnt drop pods so the thunder armors even more annoying.

Dec 6th 2018 at 7:27:38 AM

Kirin in general is not a fun fight.

Eh, it's not as bad as people say it is. it's a lot more fun than tempered daora in any case, but comparing something to "fun.exe has stopped running" is not a great point to make. But in terms of actual bullshit, if you bother to put life up 3, the thunder mantle and the ultra insti-I mean the temporal mantle, it might ust be one of the most fair fights of the elder dragons.

Dec 6th 2018 at 9:19:45 AM

i dont think kirin is difficult. with just a little bit of preparation he's largely negated as a threat, but the fact that every attack just bounces off everywhere except the exceptionally tiny hitbox that is his horn about 40% of the time makes him a time-wasting nuisance. combined with the fact that as an elder dragon, you cant end the fight with a capture once you hit 30% health, this makes him by far one of the worst elder dragons in the game. he's right up there with daora in the trash tier of monsters.

so after doing the tempered legiana and pink rathian event quest and realising fighting tempered monsters is just pointless since it just gives high rank mats only, i decided to skip right ahead of arch-tempered kirin.

...

...

i dont regret it but...yikes. damage values have gone up dramatically.

currently using the ignition greatblade to force myself to learn its openings and its sorta working (i last longer than 8 minutes now) but im having trouble sheathing the weapon in time to get away from some of its attacks. i know the odogaron greaves have quick sheath 1, but does any other set have some quick sheath too? or am i forced to use charms to get that skill up?

You can get it with decorations toi. But if you have the time to sheath your sword, you have the time to block the attack so there's better to do.

(Yes everything the kirin do can be blocked with the right angle.)
