Oh boy! I had a real close call moment in Genealogy!

I made the really unwise choice of having Finn fight against a bunch of brigands, and most of them had a pretty high hit rate against him.

Finn managed to dodge some of their attacks, and when it was the turn of the very last one. This bandit had like a 80% hit rate and Finn was very low in HP, I was like "OH S***!!! HE IS DONE FOR!!!" but against all odds. Finn dodged the attack!

[up]Thank FE 4 Miracle, that's thing is broken. You just need to be down to 1 HP to just dodge everything for the rest of the turn.

Blazing Blade Female-Only Run

Chapter 11

The start of Eliwood Hard mode. It's just Eliwood and Rebecca's show until Chapter 15. I gave Lowen's Iron Sword to Eliwood so that he doesn't have to use up the Rapier a lot.

1st chapter in, and it's giving me some trouble. Eliwood has to take a lot of the hit and many of the bandits have 40s. A good thing that the bandits like to retreat and heal themselves when they take a lot of damage. That's a lot of enemies off my back.

Still, I have to use a lot of my vulneraries just so I don't die. Thankfully, Rebecca crit one of the bandits so that's one gone without worry since neither of them can double the bandits.

Thankfully, when most are clear and the only known threat to Rebecca is an archer, Eliwood could move into a fort to give himself more defense and evasion. The use of the terrain like cliffs as buffer for Rebecca is really necessary for this run. Also, a good thing that the bandits are prioritizing Eliwood over Dorcas or Bartre.

Dorcas has an Energy Ring on him while Eliwood visits the village to get the Dracoshield. Obviously, Eliwood is going to be taking a lot of hits in the early chapters so boosting his defense might be needed.

Christ, neither of them are getting good level ups. But I think Rebecca's speed up is enough to double the archers, I guess.

I bought a lot of vulneraries in the vendor since they are going to be needing it. Rebecca got the boss kill and the chapter ends.

Reset: 1 (still no reset)

Mark's Log (Wind, March)

  • Eliwood Lv. 1 > 4.48 Lord (18[+1]/5/5[+2]/7[+2]/7/5[+2]/0[+2])
  • Rebecca Lv. 1 > 4.49 Archer (17[+2]/4/5[+1]/6[+2]/4[+1]/3/1)

I don't want to risk sending Finn out there with just 1 HP, enemies sometimes hit him anyways.

Whole heaping helping of Famitsu news! I'm going to wait for the full translations, but so far the best piece of info is that everyone has unique palettes upon reclassing and the worst is that you can't use fists while on a mount.

Oh, and the one unnamed Blue Lions girl is Ingrid.

Apparently we're going back to gender-restricted classes, such as Fist Fighter being male-only.

Looks like "crests" are a thing that most nobility have.

Oddly though, almost everyone with a crest is described as having a "Minor Crest" other than Byleth and some guy named Felix. The idea of Major and Minor crests reminds of FE 4.

Meaning, what, you have axe guys who can learn any of the axe classes and sword guys who can learn any of the sword classes and so forth?

No, it means you can be a brigand who uses a sword, or a mage with a lance. Your equippable weapons depend entirely on your weapon skill ranks and ignore class. Although of course being good with an axe makes it easier to become a Brigand.

Some weird things I've translated myself:

Gambits are skills that use your accompanying knights, that increase with the level of your "Command" skill. They do weird things like AOE buffs, AOE attacks, uncounterable attacks, moving enemies around, etc. Gambits have a limited amount of uses per map

There are three kinds of skills: Personal Skills, Class Skills, and Custom Skills. Each character has a personal skill they can't change (obviously), class skills are tied to classes and cannot be moved to another class, and Custom skills are tied to weapon ranks and can be used with any class. Any class can use any weapon, except gauntlets which can't be used on horses (gauntlets all have the Brave Weapon effect by default). Class skills are things like being able to move after attacking with a Cavalier.

Magic seems to be a class skill: mages get the class skill "Fire" which lets them cast Fire. But they get double uses of Fire if the character already knows Fire. So maybe it's both a class skill and a Custom Skill? And also has limited uses? Sounds weird.

Characters can have "hidden talents" where something they are normally bad at is marked with 3 stars. But if you keep training at it (three times?), their talent will "bloom" and they'll both stop being bad at it and get a bonus skill for their effort.

Some stuff other people translated:

Crests in characters For some characters in this game, "Crests" lie in their bodies, passed down from their ancestors. The Crests are given much significance, as the throne of the Adrestian Empire is passed down to the bearer of the Crest of Seiros, and the presence of a Crest can greatly sway inheritance. Also, it appears that Crests can surface as talent, as one might possess great magical power or physical ability. {The wording doesn't really claim a direct connection between having a Crest and being talented, just that it seems that way. Maybe it could be superstition?}

The protagonist's Crest A Crest resides in the protagonist, but what Crest it is is a mystery.

Church of Seiros The Church of Seiros, rooted in the land of Fodlan, was founded by Saint Seiros. In a past conflict called the Hero Wars, they {They didn't say anything about sex or gender} defeated the "Liberation King" Nemesis, and brought peace to Fodlan. It is said that they helped greatly in founding the Adrestian Empire as well.

As time passed, the Holy Kingdom of Faergus became independent from the Adrestian Empire, and the Leicester Alliance separated from them as well. Wars arose over hegemony {honestly not 100% sure how to translate that sentence}, lasting a long time. Currently, a balance of power is being maintained, and this is largely due to the Church of Seiros.

Crests Many nobles in this game are descendants of the "Ten Heroes of Fodlan", who participated in the Hero War, and are in the Houses with inherited Crests. Crests are passed down through bloodlines, but there is no guarantee that descendants will have a Crest, and only a select few can make use of the powers.

Crests are separated into "Major Crests", which have great power, or "Minor Crests", which are slightly less powerful. It is generally said that having more blood of one of the Heroes {essentially purer blood, this is hard to translate for me} makes it more likely to have a Major Crest, but there are times when children with Major Crests are born suddenly, so the principles are still unknown.

So we FE 4 now.

In fact, this feels like Judgral, Tellius, and Persona got into bed together and 3H is what came out.

I like it.

But it didn't specifically discount wyverns!

Between personal skills being a thing again and everybody having a signature weapon type, it sounds like the units are going to have a lot of individuality. I like it.

But I like that they actually reward you for breaking the mold with character progression. Now we only have to see if those skills are actually worth it.
