The puppet is at Lv. 3. That is the maximum, right?

Pokemon Conquest was essentially a heavily dumbed down FFT(A) with Pokemon characters. Could've been much more.

Upgrading the Puppet to level 3 nets you a secret character after your next battle.

He's actually really really good so I recommend using him. Just fight a random skirmish and he should show up.

Wait, upgrading the puppet gives a secret character? Is that Birthright only?

Yeah. Conquest and Revelations get you a character from upgrading the Magic Orb.

In all games you also get a secret character from upgrading the bathhouse.

However, said bathhouse character is different if obtained in Revelation than the one in Birthright and Conquest

I think part of the issue is that TMS sold absolutely horrendously in Japan for whatever reason- so they gave up on it here since there was even less of a chance it would sell and they could put their ad money elsewhere.

Or it could be because it was neither Fire Emblem, nor Megaten.... So attaching that name was seen as an insult by both fan bases.

I mean, a Crossover might get away with being In Name Only for one of its component franchises. But both of them? No way fans will let that slide.

In the dev's defenses, it would be very difficult to make a crossover of universes for both games, I think what they did was better than anything I could have thought of.

Speaking as a longtime fan of Shin Megami Tensei and a recent but big fan fan of Fire Emblem.

Omega Radiance isn't here to say it so I will: Majin Tensei basically is SMT x FE.

No, it would not have been in the slightest.

Shin Megami Tensei IV was the perfect one to bring in already.

[up] Or that.

They started advertising the thing before they had any idea what it would be about. Tha'ts a pretty big gaffe, if I do say so myself.

Thing is, these are two very different series with very different mechanics and very different settings.

So why create the game in the first place?

[up][up]Okay but TMS was not the way to go about it. The game ended up being neither Fire Emblem nor Shin Megami Tensei, much less a combination of both.

Agian, Shin Megami Tensei IV was close enough setting wise to work way better.

Neither of them are about idols though, so what we got wasn't even an in name only for one, but for both francises.

[up][up] I stand by it having had the posibility to work by either droping SMT's demons into Fire Emblem, since the demons are kind of what makes SMT any way.

Ooor, just using Shin Megami Tensei IV.... agian. >.<

They were probably just really liked the idea the came up with and thought it was good.

I personally think it's rather creative.

[up]Demons, FE characters' spirits, elemental weaknesses, the spells used in battle, the weapon triangle, the list goes on.

Its creative yes, but it is neither SMT nor Fire Emblem.

Thats the problem, not the game itself, but it being neither of those things while using there name.

Which is why I think its doing better in Amercia, because from what I know, the name is being downplayed there.

"Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE"

Unless you knew its history, you might think its a completly seprate game, which it should have been.

[up] I am a fan of both, I know what makes them tick. >.<

[up][up]Same here. Sure, it wasn't what I expected, but I liked what they created, even if I would hesitate to call it a crossover (it's more like a blend, really).

To be fair, the demons from the SMT series are probably above what most Fire Emblem characters could even deal with; like, in a fight between say Grima and/or Anakaos against either Lucifer or YHVH, I'm gonna be betting on the latter two any day of the year.

The universal rules are way different, though.

Hell, even different games in each series have different rules about how gods and god-like beings work.

I sure said that!

I would like to point out that the Demi-fiend survived the universe imploding on him in one ending; how many Fire Emblem characters could actually pull that off?
