I'd like to think it's a callback to the original Mystery of the Emblem's 3-part final chapter of Book 2, except in that instance it was a Marathon Level where you couldn't switch out units or save in-between. It was obviously meant to be an endurance test.

Enjoyment and Excitement! So, Arthur's son is a Wyvern Rider. He'll be inheriting Fighter and Ninja as side classes from his parents. The skills he could inherit brings up an interesting decision.
Arthur could pass down Pavise and Kagero could pass down Aegis, giving him both sides of the defensive skills. Alternatively, Kagero could pass down Death Blow and Arthur could pass down Armoured Blow, making a very potent Player Phase unit against any physical unit (and probably a lot of magical units, since they tend to lack defence). There's also the potential of either parent passing Tomefaire (Kagero gets it naturally, Arthur can A+ with Azama), so I can have a Malig Knight with both faire skills. Doubt he'd have a decent mag growth, though.
Any other thoughts?

Birthright Chapter 19: Rainbow Sage
Once I opened the game for yesterday's play session, Izana immediately showed up and, the party animal that he is, joined my party. I'm not that happy about his personal skill, Peacebringer, debuffing friends as well as enemies, but he's a fun guy to have on the field.
Seeing how the Rainbow Sage had been working his Crack Pairing magic at My Castle's Records Hall since the point of path divergence, I saw right through his random old villager act. As for the battle itself, I found it very odd to see a General with a 0 defense rating. From there it wasn't too hard to figure out this chapter's gimmick; the west rooms had enemies with no defense, and the east side had enemies with no resistance.
As for the post fight cutscene, the Rainbow Sage was absolutely right about the experience of having fought our way through his sanctuary itself being the boost visiting him grants. Between the Challenges I took on before the chapter and the chapter itself, a whopping ten of my unpromoted units reached Lv. 20. Kaze went from Ninja to Master Ninja. Hayato went from Diviner to Basara. Hana went from Samurai to Swordmaster. Setsuna went from Archer to Sniper. Mozu went from Villager to Merchant. Kagero went from Ninja to Mechanist. Oboro went from Spear Fighter to Spear Master. Hinata went from Samurai to Master of Arms. Hinoka went from Sky Knight to Falcon Knight. Azama also reached Lv. 20, but I have yet to promote him because I bought up my Lv. 2 Rod Shop's entire remaining stock of Master Seals.
While some of my choices might not be the best for the individual units, my goal here is to try out as many different classes as possible, and have the army as a whole be balanced in how many of each class I have. For example, I promoted Mozu to Merchant instead of Master of Arms because she was the only unit I had that had Merchant as a traditional class change. Maybe if she's available in one of the other two routes, I'll promote her to Master of Arms instead in that one.
That leaves me with only five units still awaiting natural promotion; Azama, Saizo, Orochi, Subaki, and Sakura. I'm not sure what new units I'll be getting, whether from first generation ones I have yet to meet, or second generation units yet to be born. I haven't really gone out of my way to ship anybody, though. I've preferred to arrange my battle formations based on the task at hand and let the ships fall where they may. I am glad that I don't have to go to far out of my way to get support levels up like I had to in Blazing Sword, but I get more enjoyment out of how they flesh out the characters than the prospect of playing matchmaker for them. The only S-rank pair I have so far is My Avatar/Felicia, and that's probably only because I have non-combat ways of growing my supports, such as my Private Quarters.
Speaking of the Private Quarters, I see what they're trying to do with the ability to "Bond" with your chosen spouse, but for me, the repetitive sweet nothings and the jerkiness of the animations puts the experience just on the edge of the Uncanny Valley. The animations for the Private Quarters quotes have always seemed a little off, but it's been most jarring when it's trying to create a sense of romantic intimacy. It doesn't really help that I, the player, feel no particular inclination to call her "my waifu".
Anyway, with the Rainbow Sage upgrading my Yato to the Noble Yato, I feel like I'm approaching the endgame.
I married Felicia. While my avatar's ended up smitten with her, she's a bit too klutzy for my taste. Then again, there isn't really anyone among the characters that have had me actively fantasizing about them, so I'd probably have ended up disappointed with the Private Quarters scenes no matter who I picked.
I'm really wondering why it's taking this long to release the last bit of Fire Emblem Fates' DLC. The Nohrian/Hoshidan Festival of Bonds.
Using Awakening's NA Release as a timeframe: Fire Emblem Awakening came out in North America February 2013. The final DLC maps were Future Past 3 & Apotheosis which came out May 2013. 3 months. Oh and it should be noted that the Scramble conversations came out before the Child DLC for Awakening.
Fire Emblem Fates came out in North America February 2016. So far, Lost in the Waves is the latest bit of DLC released in June 2016. 2 months ago. This is the conclusion of the Child DLC. It has now been 6 months since the game was released and no Festival of Bonds DLC. Not even an announcement.
This seems to serve as yet another indicator of Child Characters being more important in Awakening (and it can be argued they should have been even more important to the main story) than Fates as the Grand Finale of Fates' DLC is going to be the Festival of Bonds DLC.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the unreleased DLCs have quite a bit more text compared to the stuff in Awakening, hence why it's taking a while to release.
As for the Festival of Bonds being the grand finale, I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet. I remember that the Japanese release of Heirs of Fate wasn't announced until several months after the Japanese release of Fates. There's a chance they might release more DLC. We'll need to wait and see if that's the case.
"I squirm, I struggle, ergo I am. Faced with death, I am finally, truly alive."It's definitely true that the Nohrian/Hoshidan Festival of Bonds has a lot more text than the Scramble Conversations, but I assume it wouldn't take double the amount of time it took the Scramble Conversations being released (the Festival of Bonds DLC came out in March 2016 for Japan which should mean Nintendo of America and Treehouse should have had access to it for...5 months now).
That and it's not like any major game that would be localized by Treehouse is coming out this year (they sent Tokyo Mirage Sessions' localization to be done by Atlus and I assume The Pokemon Company have their own separate team for Sun & Moon) so it's not like anything is on the priority right now.

And... Forrest recruited.
The level intimidated me a bit. Actually switched my Avatar back to Nohr Noble in case I'd need to tank it out with a Dragonstone+, but things went surprisingly well. Until I realized I had forgotten to bring a unit with capture, and had to trade Asugi for Orochi.
And even with the ranged weapon penalty, the boss was doubling her. Not much of a problem when she's capable of cranking out 45 damage with most scrolls, but you still have to be careful. I also wish I'd thought of capturing some of the Berserkers with abnormal skills.

That's why in Revelations, despite his late join time and low starting level, I vastly prefer using Niles to capture units.
It's not as if grinding's hard in Revelations anyway.
Bewitching EyesWell, one, Orochi is typically horrifyingly slow and two, the boss of that stage didn't have a ranged-weapon penalty. He's among a handful of bosses who packs one of the enemy-only "Star Axes". They're basically just the melee axe with 1~2 range (and there's a version for every weapon type other than shuriken/knives).

, specifically fanfiction on AO 3.
With the assumption that Most Fanfic Writers Are Girls, I suppose it should be obvious the most popular pairing is Leo and Takumi at a whopping 241 fanfics.
The second most popular pairing is Female Corrin and Azura at 71 fanfics. Barely beating out Ryoma and Xander at 70 fanfics. It should be noted that proportionally there are less F/F fanfics than M/M and M/F so that's really impressive.
Male Corrin and Azura have 45 fanfics.

I'm not too surprised that there are more M x M fanfics than F x F fanfics for Fire Emblem. I remember when I first saw Fire Emblem fanfiction, Eliwood x Hector and Marth x Roy seemed to be the most popular pairings.
Hence why I wasn't ever too bothered by Nina being a Yaoi Fangirl. She really isn't too different from the Fire Emblem fanfic writers that I had encountered.
"I squirm, I struggle, ergo I am. Faced with death, I am finally, truly alive."![]()
And yet, god help you if you try adding Female Corrin/Azura on the Fates Fan-Preferred Couple page.
I've seen it added about three times, and once by myself, and it's always removed in short order afterwards claiming "it's not as popular as Male Corrin/Azura". Despite the fact that Ao3, Fanfiction.net and tumblr, the three biggest fanfiction sites, it's vastly more popular than Male Corrin/Azura.
The only thing Male Corrin/Azura beats Female Corrin/Azura out on is fan-art and even then, it's mostly by Japanese artists. The Western artists ''still' prefer Female Corrin/Azura
Sounds like the entry should just read, "Corrin (either gender) x Azura".

Probably someone who looked at Blazing Sword and said, "We should do that again!"
