As flawed as Conquest's story is (and it is very flawed), I think I like it the most of Fates's three stories. Birthright is just a straightforward romp to beat the evil kingdom with a dab of family drama on the side. Pretty boring honestly aside from a select few scenes. Rev abandons most of what makes Fates's setting interesting and focuses on more standard JRPG save the world schlock, which is usually the least interesting part of Fire Emblem stories. As dumb as CQ Corrin is, at least the plot follows through on you actually going on a conquest while attempting internal reformation.
@Pulse: Exactly. I mean, people complain about Revelation not explaining characters or giving an introduction but the thing is:
- A: Revelation is supposed to be played AFTER Birthright and Conquest, so you should know these characters already.
- B: Character introductions like Birthright and Conquest would have made Revelation much longer with info dumps.
You mean the internal reformation that only gets decided to happen in the final act of the game?

I feel like it is the most interesting conceptually but executed the most poorly. Revelation is in many ways the most overtly safe of the stories but it's also executed the best, with Birthright somewhere in-between.
I personally am someone who prefers follow-through to intention- "An old story told well" and all that jazz- but I can understand why someone would disagree with me.

I sure said that!I occasionally think about actual SMT/FE crossovers, even though TMS wasn't exactly that. Stuff like Manfroy joining the Chaos faction, Lekain signing on to Law, Vaike and Walter becoming Bash Brothers, Mastema and Naesala bonding over shared crow motifs and taste in pretty blonde singers...
The reformation stuff isn't well done, but stuff like Corrin subjugating the Ice Tribe (mostly) peacefully, restraining Camilla from getting too kill happy, and protecting POWs where possible does show them trying to improve Nohr in smaller ways aside from just stabbing the obviously evil guy.
I won't defend how no one seems to die unless they do. That's just beyond stupid.

Oh wow, that Mastema and Naesala bit was perfect.
Could you elaborate on the "no one seems to die unless they do" bit?

"I squirm, I struggle, ergo I am. Faced with death, I am finally, truly alive."How does no one die in the Ice Tribe battle? Especially with Niles in the group. How were they able to overpower Hinoka the first time without killing anyone? Why did Sakura's retainers make it while Takumi's were less lucky? All of Fates, but Conquest in particular has a big issue with characters not dying when they're stabbed until they are because the plot dictated so.
Yeah, but when Peri stabs Hana in the face she's perfectly fine while, and then Peri stabs Hinata in the face a chapter later and he just falls over. Then Peri stabs Setsuna in the face the next chapter, and she's running around all healthy 10 minutes later. It's the inconsistency that screws with Conquest.
Same thing happens in BR, tho. Beruka survives face-stabbing, Peri does not. And so on.
Bewitching EyesOne thing I like that's subtle is that Corn only sees people that are family or people they consider family in the afterlife.
It's the absolute proof certain someone is alive on Birthright and foreshadows Lilith is their sister, whose dragons powers return them to life.
Also considering how retainers disappear entirely after beating said chapters it's more likely the story treats them as dead.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.So... in Radiant Dawn, whatever happened to Duke Seliora? Don't remember him? He's the Senator with the yellow sash and the pencil mustache. He's the only Senator not to be confronted on the battlefield (he seems to be a total coward); instead he sics Mooks at you for two chapters in Part 3 and then vanishes off the face of the Earth.

Commissioned someone to make some custom Orochi!Kana portraits for me. I think they turned out pretty well.

Which makes me feel like he would be the perfect Big Bad for any story that crosses over the other games.
