I would debate the quality of Pokemon Go. While it wasn't me at the helm, I was able to sit around physically watching the game play out for several days from launch. Horrible server load issues aside, the game is grindy as hell and currently doesn't have a ton of substance to it. My friend only made the meager progress as he did because we were at a con where lures and stuff were up 24 hours a day. Personally, I don't want to touch the thing. If the mobile Fire Emblem ends up anything like Pokemon Go, I probably won't even bother.
FE: New Mystery Only Feet 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Umamusume Haru Arima 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiI'm fairly sure Fire Emblem Go will be developed by IS, not Niantic. And presumably it will have SRPG and relationship building elements from the main series, though simplified and changed for mobile of course. What Pokemon Go is doing has zero bearing on Nintendo's mobile plans.
Though now I'm wondering what Ingress with a Fire Emblem skin would be like. Hm, I don't think walking around to hunt down your favorite husbando/waifu would have quite the same ring to it.
Fire Emblem in mobile is part of Nintendo's partnership with De NA. I don't know what involvement IS has, if any. Also, Nintendo has next to no involvement with Pokémon Go. It was an idea pitched to the Pokémon Company which Nintendo only has a 1/3 stake in.
Final Fantasy record keeper has a pretty good way of earning what you need without using real money. Events let you earn characters and additional costumes for said characters.
Earning crystals to uses for the gaining of powerful weapons and equipment. There was a point when the 11 draw was half off and while getting 50 crystals takes a few days depending on how much stamina one has, but 25 is an easy task to accomplish.
I got a a couple of legendary weapons for a few characters and 3 different costumes and multiple famous characters all from events.

That's only if you're really, really impatient though. I've played through games with "gatchapon" draws that I never had to spend a single cent on. "Chain Chronicles" was fun as hell, yet I never felt that I needed to spend money just to get more draws.

Tying progress in a game entirely to random chance is a bad thing, yes. It means skill is not as important as just Bribing Your Way to Victory.

I sure said that!I don't see how that's a bad thing. If you don't want to spend money, save your stuff for opportune moments.
It's what I've done for 3-4 mobile games now and I've never had troubles with progressing or being able to have fun with them, and I'm just as far as people who have spent money.
These games are entirely free unless you choose to spend money. That's how people are choosing to spend their money, and how other people play does not affect you whatsoever.
Not to mention the fact that every mobile game I've played thus far has made it more than possible to win with just the monsters you can randomly find in dungeons/whatever monsters/cards/medals you do happen to draw from the machine.

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeLet's not pretend, though, that progress is not significantly slowed without either plenty of luck with what the RNG spits out at you or a willingness to drop money on premium currencies. Skill has no place to be in that crowd- You can either crawl forward slowly on skill or leapfrog by leaps and bounds with luck or bribes, even in good mobile games.
We've had this argument before, I think we maybe should all just drop it.

I sure said that! The three and eleven draw automatically guarantees at least 3 star level equipment which is right in the middle of terms of rarity. So your not getting anything worthless. The events give enough of a means to complete the missions. Like I said the characters are easy to get and equipment can be gained through playing the game and using the in game currency. The crystals tend to be easy to get by logging in and completing dungeons.

I sure said that!To be frank: Pulse does have a point. A free game that makes it very difficult to progress/get good stuff without paying is an Allegedly Free Game, which most of these mobile titles are.
Except most popular mobile games don't make it difficult to progress without paying- in fact many mobile games actually have limits that prevent you from just buying everything and winning in the form of Cost.

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeThing I haven't considered but am now immediately going to try: Making Azura a Witch. Warp would be SO AWESOME on her.
Bewitching EyesWarp is overpowered, period. There's nothing about that skill that even resembles balanced. It even manages to make Awakening's ridiculously abusable Rescue Staves look like crap by comparison.

It's not like modern games are any better than mobile games these days. They're all bugging you to buy all the DLC and microtransactions after you've already paid $40/$60. At least mobile games have a free entry point. There are thousands of good and great free to play games that have fair monetization, and while I have my doubts on how Nintendo will approach mobile Fire Emblem, there's no inherent reason it will be nothing more than gacha rolling.
