[up] How does a raised Lyre turn out, anyway? Even compared to Meg and Fiona I understand she's almost always immediately benched.

High speed, low strength. If you really have a fetish for cats, just use Ranulf, who joins at the same time as her, but starts out exponentially better and goes on that way.

Even if they didn't design it that way, I'd argue it turned out that way. Enemies still stream in and often hang out in groups such that it's just more efficient to have someone run into to clear them out on EP. The game is a function of all of its parts. If it was trying to be PP-oriented, it failed horrifically.

As for Lyre, her stats can actually get fairly good (since BEXP favouratism can really beef up most laguz, given that the 3-stat gain is usually greater than their total growths!) and one Energy Drop solves a lot of her damage problems thanks to counting for 4. However... she's still stuck in what's basically the worst class in the game. Lack of 1~2-range and a gauge that depletes super fast, but charges at only a mediocre pace means that she's maybe participating in half of the map without being babysat by Reyson for grass smoking. I'd still take her any day over Fiona because Fiona's situation makes her a net negative to the team, but I still really wouldn't recommend her. Just use a Hawk instead (or even a non-Kyza Tiger would be better).

So random thought, but does Peri seem like she'd be Selkie's canonical mother, due to how bipolar Selkie herself seems?

Selkie seems more flighty than bipolar to me.

Nah, Selkie's not bipolar. Genki Girl yes.

I mean, they have the same voice actress in English but yeah. They would have Shared Family Quirks regarding fighting being fun for them, but that's because they're both Blood Knights.

I mean, if we want to get into "canonical" mothers, personally I feel Selena is Caeldori's canonical mother because obvious reason is obvious [lol]

I mean, Selkie's solution to helping Ignatius with his fears is a mix between protecting him from them, and just helping him overcome them; i.e. throwing a spider in his hair when he least expects it to help him, even though that'd probably just freak him out even more.

A very interesting thread I found on Reddit: What does your least favorite FE do better than your favorite? There's a ton of opinion diversity here, with almost every game getting to be somebody's least favorite (though Shadow Dragon of all things seems to be the leading pick) and many varied answers to the question itself. I like fandoms with wide varieties of opinions myself. The big, giant, with-us-or-against-us gaps (like Star Wars originals vs. prequels) are no fun, but lots of small opinion differences are.

I've only played Awakening and Fates with the latter winning out as my favorite, but I like Awakening's UI better and how Supports have voice clips.

Personally, I liked that Fire Emblem Fates didn't have any voice clips during support conversations. I found those a tad distracting in Fire Emblem: Awakening, though I didn't exactly hate them.

Definitely agree about how the UI in Fire Emblem: Awakening was better, though.

Magic feels more powerful in Binding Blade than it does in Path of Radiance. That's something, right?

That one took a fair bit of effort to come up with.

[up][up]I feel they could have had better voice clips for the supports in Fates instead of the basic Voice Grunting of Awakening. But nope, we get nothing but silence.

[up]Honestly, I didn't mind the lack of voices during support conversations. I'm guessing that they wanted voiced lines for My Room dialogue, hence why we didn't get voiced support conversations.

Another RD question: why did Largo get petrified? It's stated only the strongest were spared, and given how tough Largo was in POR I'd imagine even with one arm he'd be above, say, Ilyana, Fiona, or Nealuchi.

I believe the plot assumption was that everyone in the participating armies (all the player characters, plus plot relevant NPC's) are at their strongest due to currently maintaining their strength for the war effort, so everyone in the army was spared. Largo, who was not training due to his injury and need to run the inn he and Calill owned, was likely not strong enough to avoid petrification.

I'll never NOT find Ninja Mario Bros. funny.

I love Kagero's utterly-disinterested expression.

So, I just got an idea earlier today that has some potential, but may be either OP or useless. Or maybe just rather situational.

What if there was a unit with a Personal Skill that summons something that acts like the "obstacle" objects?

That would be a cooler use for Brynhildr than occasionally reducing magic damage. Then it wouldn't be the least useful of the four divine weapons.

Like, I was trying to imagine a character based off of the Strategist I just captured, I was training her in that area with the obstacles and imagined "Heh, what kind of personal skill would have something to do with these?"

I'm imagining it's either a personal skill or some kind of exclusive tome. Or maybe the character in question has the personal skill for it, but in-story explanation is their tome.

Brynhildr is not the least useful because of it's nature as a magical weapon with 1-2 range and no drawbacks. Fujin Yumi is less useful than Brynhildr in a serious run.

[up][up]The value would be highly dependent on how many chokepoints the map has, but it doesn't sound universally overpowered at any rate.
