Yeah, Kitsune are, unfortunately, left without a decent niche to fill. They're 1-range locked in a setting where the ridiculous Ninja class exists as a better mage slayer.
FE: New Mystery Only Feet 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Umamusume Haru Arima 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiIronically, it could be that they tried too hard to parallel Wolfskin that lets Kitsune down. If it had a skill that was "allows counterattacks at 2 square range", then they'd be a brilliant magekiller. But because they just share Grisly Wound with Wolfskin, they end up losing out.
I will try to keep it in mind the next time I get a scouting map filled with mages. He might get some mileage there.
Kaden is a pretty sweet support unit for Keaton, I find. Since speed and resistance are prolly his two weakest stats.
Bewitching EyesBlazing Sword Chapter 30: Victory or Death
Well, for my first two tries, the answer was "death", thanks to me being too hasty in sending Eliwood and some other units up to the northern ruins to recruit Renault and him getting nailed by the nearby Bishop's Purge tome. for my third try, I learned my lesson and held him back until the Bishop got taken care of. As for Renault himself, I like him. His deal is basically "Get off my lawn, you stupid Morphs!" The mission was also full of Ballistae and long-range tome-wielders. The sage with the Bolting, we made short work of with Louise riding a Ballista. The Bishop with the Purge tome was a problem, as mentioned above. The Druid with the Eclipse tome had absolutely pathetic accuracy with it, making several attacks with 0% chance to hit. The one Ballista in the southeast corner of the map did manage to kill Raven, though. Also noteworthy is that I promoted Priscilla to Valkyrie. This leaves Dart, Matthew, and Nils as my only remaining unpromoted units. Then, as I made my final approach to confront Limstella, reinforcements started appearing. At first I though to wait for them to come to me and fight them using the forest for cover. But more and more just kept coming. So I had to take out Limstella before the reinfocements overwhelmed us. I tried having Priscilla use a Silence staff on her, but it had a 0% chance to hit, and I had several units who weren't strong enough to scratch her. In the end, it was Canas who took her out with his Luna tome, and an extra move from Nils.
New Party Members: Renault (Bishop)
Promotions: Priscilla (Troubadour -> Valkyrie)
Casualties: Raven
Now, the final battle awaits!
He has Raijinto, he doesn't need anything else.
I gave the Hagakure Blade to Hinata, mainly because he's my only unit with an S-rank in swords.
Bewitching EyesThose swords always go to Hinata for me. Hana doesn't need the extra oomph as bad and Ryoma just needs Raijinto forever.
I'm trash for giggling a little about ramen every time I hear the name Hagakure.

I sure said that!Wow. Velouria's map is a bitch and a half. A warp stave and two status staves all in close proximity, three fire orbs, and a mix of heavy magic and physical attackers... all with a sheer cliff face forcing you to charge into the centre of it.
I must have tried it six times before I finally got a clear, and at least two of them came from forgetting to move Velouria out of the dangerous areas. Eventually, had to reclass my avatar to a master ninja, drink every type of tonic, and tank the staves until their uses were spent.
Wow, Vanguard Xander actually doesn't look weird using Siegfried. Maybe cuz it's about the same size as Ragnell.
Bewitching EyesSelkie's is just as bad. Surrounded by ranged attackers when you have no ranged attack? CHARGE! IT IS THE ONLY LOGICAL COURSE OF ACTION! Makes me glad she has Camaraderie from Hinoka, after the hits she took
Umm... so, personally... this is the first time this has happened, so I'm a bit surprised. Only a centimetre away...The Snipers don't move in Selkie's mission. The only reason you want to go after her quickly is to stop her hogging all that delicious experience.
Bewitching EyesFor Velouria's map, make sure to use the Dragon Veins, and leave your mages at home.
Bewitching EyesShe starts out under your control, and appears the moment you engage the north or south side. Along with four faceless spawning from the fortresses behind you..
And I don't like those dragon veins, because it shuts off every side's magic, and my side's silence lasts longer. So that's absolutely no time capable of healing, and vulenaries don't cut it when you've got malig knights wielding silver axes.

It's seems a lot less accurate to call a unit a magekiller when they're locked to 1 range. This means a mage will practically never engage them on an enemy phase, you have to kill them on your turn.
As opposed to archers, who I can have in the very edge of their range, or ninjas/maids/butlers, who share the 1-2 range and also inflict stat debuffs. I do a lot of scouting, so I don't see tomes very often. I dunno, I can sort of see what you're saying, but I think I'd rather counter mages with other mages, than try to force the use of a kitsune.
Or maybe I'm unintentionally playing devil's advocate. I do so much scouting that any use of Kaden is more me trying to force him than using his actual strengths.
