I was always confused about that problem as I myself never experienced it when I had a few wyvern riders who used ranged weapons quite often. Apparently the RNG loves me more than others. Or it did.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahApparently, it has to do with "dealing damage before the enemy's HP has stopped decreasing
".
You can do Tri Attack with one Wyvern Knight and two Falco Knights. Although the WK has to be either Vanessa or Tana. But the Wyvern Knight has to initiate the triangle. If it's three Falco Knights, then it can be whoever.

So. Let's all pause for a moment to smell what the Rock was, is, and forever will be... cooking.—Cave JohnsonVanessa and Tana can become Falco Knights or Wyvern Knights. Syrene is a recruitable Falco Knight in Chapter 17.
Cormag is Wyvern Knight/Wyvern Lord only. That 55% Strength growth would be wasted on a Falco Knight.

So. Let's all pause for a moment to smell what the Rock was, is, and forever will be... cooking.—Cave Johnson^ Oh? Then that's one class choice answered. I am fearing that when I do get around to playing Sacred Stones I will have too many decisions on my hands. Thanks for answering one of them.
And I thought there were only...oh, there are only three PEGASUS-BASED characters in a game.
Should I make a Wyvern Knight from either Vanessa or Tana?
And should I make Cormag a Wyvern Knight or a Wyvern Lord?
I typically make Tana a wyvern knight, but Vanessa would benefit more from the extra damage that Pierce does.
Cormag I always make into a Wyvern Lord. He's got a great strength growth and is typically a lot more durable that way. The use of Swords and Lances also helps him a lot in versatility.
Really, the only benefit of the Wyvern Knight is it's Pierce ability and a high speed and skill caps. The Pegasus Knights would get a lot more out of it than Cormag.
Would you like a list of promotion branch recommendations for all characters?

So. Let's all pause for a moment to smell what the Rock was, is, and forever will be... cooking.—Cave JohnsonThe glitch only happens if it's a double ranged attack and both attacks are Pierces. It's relatively unlikely, but you feel absolutely retarded if it happens on say, the 9th floor of Lagdou Ruins.
My recommended promotion trees:
- Franz-> Great Knight
- Gilliam-> General, rarely use
- Vanessa-> Either
- Moulder-> Never Use
- Ross-> Pirate-> Berserker
- Garcia-> Warrior
- Neimi-> Ranger
- Colm-> Rogue
- Artur-> Bishop
- Lute-> Sage
- Natasha-> Valkyrie
- Joshua-> Swordmaster
- Forde-> Paladin, rarely use
- Kyle-> See Forde
- Tana-> Either
- Amelia-> Knight-> General
- Gerik-> Hero
- Marisa-> Assassin
- L'Arachel-> Mage Knight
- Ewan-> Shaman-> Druid
- Cormag-> Wyvern Lord
- Knoll-> Summoner
Anything I should possibly change?

So. Let's all pause for a moment to smell what the Rock was, is, and forever will be... cooking.—Cave JohnsonI usually promote Ross to hero, and he usually caps pretty much everything when I do that(res not so much though). He is an absolute beast that way. I also prefer Amelia as a paladin, Knoll as a shaman, and Ewan as a Sage, that's just me though.
You will never love a women as much as George Lucas hates his fans.Knoll is already a Shaman.
I promote Amelia to General simply because Gilliam does not do well as one. She may not be as durable nor as powerful, but she brings up nearly every single one of his shortcomings. Namely his awful speed stat. Swiftsoles also give her Cavalier movement, minus the higher penalties on rougher terrain except desert. There's also full mastery of the weapon triangle.
Similar reasons for why Ross is a berserker. Dozla just isn't all that great. Being a prepromote has a lot to do with it. And Gerik covers that base pretty well.
I can see where you're coming from with Ewan as Sage though.
All in all, I choose based on variety.

So. Let's all pause for a moment to smell what the Rock was, is, and forever will be... cooking.—Cave JohnsonThat's just awful.
He's a bit hard to work with. Possibly powerful, but very flimsy, starting with I think 0 Luck. He's also rather slow and somewhat inaccurate. However as far as Summoners go, he's rather good with decent summonable phantoms. But he doesn't start in a very good chapter for a level 10 Shaman. No matter whose route you travelled, he is first playable on the desert chapter.

So. Let's all pause for a moment to smell what the Rock was, is, and forever will be... cooking.—Cave JohnsonMy Knoll has always been awesome...Hmm. Though I don't really care much at all about the character tiers and optimizing my team. I just want to use the characters I like when I'm not 100%ing support lists. I've been doing this for years and never had issues. I really liked using Moulder because I liked his supports with Vanessa.

If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahI never cared much for tiers either. I just find some characters more difficult to raise than others.
So. Let's all pause for a moment to smell what the Rock was, is, and forever will be... cooking.—Cave JohnsonLute and Moulder. Innes I believe as well. I usually either get A's with Lute or Moulder. For the former it should be clear to all who know me why that is...
On characters being hard to raise: That's not really an issue to me at all if I like them. I don't tend to notice it much. Well I do but I just don't fucking care and it falls into the realm of things I noticed but ignore and go on to not notice.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahI hear that people ship Vanessa and Innes. But I don't know who Innes is yet. Don't spoil it for me. :P
Right now I'm hoping to be able to get Matthew and Serra and Serra and Lucius to have supports. Because I want to see Serra's reaction to Lucius's being a trap very pretty boy, and I also kinda want to ship Matthew with Serra.
I have issues with Matthew and most of the thief characters for some reason. I never really like them save the one in eight. I liked him.
General Amelia is fucking god. My Knoll would get doubled to death earlier on but he typically ended up as something that could fend for himself and not have to worry about that.

Also, should this piece of technically-non-fanart art
be filed under Fire Emblem?

This issue is exclusive to the Wyvern Knight, since it has Pierce. It's a problem with the class, not a specific character.
