I'm gonna say it's not limited to the military at all. Corporate consultants (like in Office Space) would be a prime example, assuming they're not already troped. (I'm gonna say this because I started that trope, and never meant it to be exclusive to the military)

I know this trope only just got launched, but I gotta wonder, does it have to be limited to just the military? Can't this trope apply to any large, hierarchical organization? Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter or that billionaire from the first season of House come to mind as non-military examples.
