I've always seen the EBR with optics on it, not a red dot, but not the high powered long range optics of a designated marksman rifle. More of a rifle that can be used at close range decently, long range if you've got a good position to fire from, and excelling at medium range shots because of the eye relief and distance of the optics used.
Okay, that's something I can answer. IIRC, the M14 was a selective-fire descendant of the Garand used in the late Fifties and early Sixties; it was superseded by the M16 as a primary infantry rifle, but stayed in use for some applications thanks to its accuracy and powerful ammunition. The M21 is a derivative designed as a dedicated sniper rifle.

I will keep my soul in a place out of sight, Far off, where the pulse of it is not heard. So Yeah, I've now purchased that rifle I was talking about earlier. Fun times!
When in deadly danger, When beset by doubt, Run in little circles, Wave your arms and shout.Dude, my jaw dropped when I saw them for the first time, and when I said they're fucking awesome, my dad replied "They'd be even better with some sanding and polishing."
Also, my USP.

"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisOh, Barkey, one question: do P226 magazines fit in P229? Asking out of curiosity. It's for a Book and stuff.
Also, funny thing: each one of my World Of Darkness characters uses a different handgun.
- Mike uses USP Tactical in .45 ACP in Masquerade and in .40 S&W in Requiem.
- Sara used a pair of Walther P99s at first, then changed them to a SIG P228.
- Megan and Lex use SIG P229 - it all started with my earlier street racer from Requiem, Selena, on whom both are based (although with changes, Meg is a blonde Pettanko while Lex is a Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette with Gag Boobs).
- I never made clear what Callisto used, but it was either a Glock or a CZ.
- Matt was supposed to use a Glock 19 (illegal one, since the campaign was planned to take place in Amsterdam).
- Shane was supposed to use a Kimber Custom II (as my only NWOD character with Strength 3).
- Jim, being a Victorian age vampire, Yankee and a Wild West gunslinger, used a Colt SAA.
- Nick used a S&W 4013 with faux-ivory grips with a spade (card suit) marking.

"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisYeah NSBL, as long as the mags are for the same caliber they are interchangeable for all the sig P 22 X series. So 9mm 226/3/8/9 mags all fit in the different weapons themselves.
I'd really recommend a Browning High Power for a nice gun as well, the BDM has REALLY nice handgrips that just come standard, they sort of have a depression in them like the type of hoodoo garbage Snake was talking about in MGS. But they feel good to fire, and you can only fire it with the tip of the finger, using the middle joint won't pull it back far enough, it's an awesome discipline building gun and shoots really smooth in 9mm.

My dad owns a Browning HP with Pachmayr grips. They're pretty uncomfortable for me, but he has bigger hands, So Yeah...
As for my RPG characters, notice a pattern: nearly all NWOD characters, with the exception of Matt and Shane, use handguns in .40 S&W - that's due to Arbitrary Gun Power: while both 9mm and .40 S&W weapons require Strength 2 and add two dice to your attack pool, the latter have additional bonus of allowing you to reroll 9s for additional damage. Well, at least it's better than the old WOD where you could deal reasonable damage to supernaturals only using shotguns and/or explosives (grenades, rocket launchers etc.).

"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von Lewis.40cals are usually a bit more accurate then 9mm. Unless you get the crappy cheapo ammo and have a crappy gun. They have velocity over both the 9mm and .45. But .45 does have that nice heavier bullet hit. Down side is less accuracy at longer pistol ranges.
.40 is my preferred caliber for a pistol. Those browning high powers though are one sweet pistol to shoot.

Who watches the watchmen?Chinese copy of airsoft Walther PPK for $90. I should afford it, but I planned to buy a F2000 and, if resources allow, a shotgun...
Aw hell, I guess they won't run out that fast now. I can wait.
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von Lewis^Yes, flat is good.
Browning Hi-Power is the only handgun I ever fired, given that it was (still is? not sure about that) standard issue to the British armed forces. Seemed pretty nice, though I have nothing to compare it with. I know the Armory guys at RAF Benson that I used to visit were being extra-careful with them, though, after several instances elsewhere in the service — apparently there was some part that could break due to stress, the result being an uncontrolled full-auto firing until the mag ran out, and the final rounds of such potentially landing anywhere since shooters generally could not (& weren't prepared to) control a burst that was that long.
It's been far too long since for me to remember what exactly it was that was failing, and I doubt it had happened more than a couple times, but there were official notices going round at the time about checking them.
A brighter future for a darker age.A flatter Trajectory yes. The issue with the 9mm though is at range it loses a lot of punch. The max range the Marines trained us to shoot with 9mm is 90 yds beyond that you might as well be using a wrist rocket.
At that point Carbines are nice but nicer still are battle rifles.
Who watches the watchmen?Hm, have you gotten to test any of the less than lethal and non lethal weapons? The paint ball gun that shoots hardened paint balls full of tear gas sounds like fun.
Fight smart, not fair.

The round you're talking about for Marine sharpshooters is .308 Lapua Magnum I believe.
Edit: I've seen Security Forces Counter-Snipers(We have only two in my unit) use everything from M24's in .308 Winmag to Barret .50 cal anti-materiel rifles. Heard rumours of them using the M14 EBR, but never seen them with one in person. Our two snipers use either M16's kitted out for designated marksmen, or the M24.
