Follow TV Tropes
I got in through fanart, fanimation and the music myself.
@Physical Stamina So Touhou could sometimes having a continuity snarl? Good to know
Althoguh I didnt lie that Touhou made me appreciate Horror RPG game or any of the Indie games in some way so thats a plus for me
I was introduced to the franchise through a crossover fangame.
Ah crossovers... Forever bringing fans from multiple fandoms together.
Edit: Official word of god statement from ZUN about continuity is that when old stuff and new stuff contradict one another then the stuff from newer works is the one that's canon.

I honestly can't remember how I got into this shit. It just sort of happened.
Speaking of which... I wont gonna lie I could almost mistaken their name with the Japanese studio who made Godzilla, Toho, so yep... Almost similar names altogether
It was the music which brought me in, beginning with "Flowering Night". The one thing that amazed me at the start was how welcoming the fandom was, patiently answering questions and such. Not like other franchises where the most common answer to any question was "SHUT UP N00B!"

I got hooked by this very site. I kept seeing Touhou pop up here and there on Tropes pages, until finally I decided I should give the games and fanworks a shot.
I was listening to Chrono Trigger remixes on YouTube, found a group named Dark PHOENIX, and I don't know if a playlist started automatically, I clicked the wrong related video, or I was just curious that day. But I ended up hearing their remix of "Tiny, Tiny Clever Commander" and was like, whoa. And I remembered seeing the name Touhou on TV Tropes pages, so I started clicking around. At first I was into it for the tunes, then I learned more about the characters associated with those tunes, started reading plot summaries on the Touhou Wiki and then fan works. And before I knew it I was curating character interpretation compendiums (plural!) and writing fan fiction about a game I'd never played, centered on one of the more obscure and irrelevant characters in it.
So many fallen names that have not come back. So many...

Wait, can we start acting like old soldiers now? "So there I was on page 44, right in the thick of the argument over which name order to use. The memes were flying fast and furious, and every other post was a YouTube video. And now just look at it, a bunch of dead links and outdated jokes..."
I think me and Hylarn are the only ones from the first page who still post here?
I recognize a few others as still active on the site, but, yeah, the thread's had some turnover
Meanwhile I'm the newest... Oh well :P Just gonna discuss sum 2hou stuff
Well, for this series it means "Eastern" ("East Direction", I guess). For the company that makes Godzilla, it means "East Treasure". They're just pronounced the same.
I'm still reading this forum... In post order.
I'm still back in 2015.

See you in four years!
Have fun! It took me yonks to get through all of the posts and I'm pretty sure I only caught up back when 2015 was still new.
Edit: Actually now that I think about it, it might of been 2014 because I'm certain that I'd caught up before I moved house.

Hang In There Kogasa-chan has ended.
After a three year hiatus, it just abruptly ends with a quick but final update.
Looks like we're getting 4500+ Touhou arranges added to the Itunes/Google play store over the upcoming weekend.
Personally, I'm quite excited for this.
Thats actually a pretty neat news!
Anyways, whats your favorite music from Touhou overall (Boss themes ofc)
My favourite tune is Eternal Shrine Maiden from the very first game. But if you're asking for favourite Boss themes then it's a tie between "Faint Dream ~ Inanimate Dream" and "Flight of the Bamboo Cutter ~ Lunatic Princess".
Emotional Skyscraper, Lost Emotion and Pure Furies top my boss themes.
Last Remote, Gensokyo the Gods Love, and Mystical Oriental Dream ~Ancient Temple top my stage themes.
Personal favorites would be the likes of History of Moon Gensokyo, Scarlet Symphony Scarlet Phoneme, Yuyuko's theme, Night of the Nights, Faraway Voyage to 360.000 Kilometers, Kagome Kagome, Yamaxanadu theme and Flandre Scarlet theme. Would love to hear more on others.
Still admit that Flandre's theme could make someone like me mistake the game for a horror one
Especially the "Devil's Advocate" and "Sweets Time Midnight" remixes.
Perennial favorites would be "Septette for the Dead Princess," "Extend Ash," "Mary, the Magician," "Blue Sea of 53 Minutes," "Kobito of the Shining Needle," "Futatsuiwa from Sado," and "Last Occultism." And I'm gonna go ahead an include "Phantasm Machine ~ Phantom Factory" even if it's not an official Touhou track, because it's just that good.

Oh. If we're pulling from the Music CDs then I'll add "Kid's Festival ~ Innocent Treasures" and "G-Free" on to my list as well.
They may be popular choices but I like 'em and that's all that matters when it comes to my favourites list.
Edit: Forgot to add "Magical Girl's Crusade" on that list as well.
